While D/R were not my favorite Pairs team they beat Russian teams more often then not especially post 2014 and beat out T/M for the Bronze medal in Pairs at the 2018 Winter Olympics. So much for always losing to Russians.
I think the fact that the Russian ladies haven't competed Worlds since 2021 and Maddie still can't get into the top 10 is pretty much evidence i think that she just might not be good enough to finish that high.
If Alysa does come back i'd like she see her push herself and try to get the triple axel back in her programs. I also hope she starts working on her programs earlier then last season since i think it was July and she still didn't have any idea what she wanted to do for her LP which i think is...
I think Jason can now retire knowing that the USFS doesn't need him for spots anymore after what happened at these Worlds. I don't see him wanting to continue to compete especially when it seems his jumps have now left him.
Crazy how a country that was not known as a powerhouse in Ice Dancing has won more Worlds medals in Ice Dance then any other country since B/A started the run of American teams on the podium in 2005. This makes it 11 World championships in a row with a medal.
Poor Yuma all those silver medals at the Olympics and Worlds has any skater this good been so close but never won Gold at either event? His single Gold from a major championship is from 4CC.
It's obvious we need Alysa to hope to get back on the podium though Isabeau had another top 4 finish alysa's consistency is her greatest strength as a skater. Bradie is probably retiring and i feel like Isabeau is maxed out and Sarah needs work on a lot of things though she is also a good...
Well at least Amber didn't fall so far down so the US still keeps 3 spots and Isabeau will have at least a top 4 finish for the 3d time in 4 Worlds appearance which is a good competitive record.
Well no 3 spots for the US and to be honest we don't need that many spots especially if there are any more breakups or retirements among the top teams which will leave little depth. P/M on the other hand have really come on in the last couple of months and might make it a easy decision for S/D...
If the US Men go back to two spots so be it Jason couldn't come in to save the day forever and he's probably done now so the remaining US Men need to get better over the next few years to get the 3rd spot back if we lose it at Worlds.
With S/N now seeming to have broken up if K/O and C/H also call it quits the US will really have no depth in Pairs for the next few years. Ironically the top 2 teams coming back will be the teams that were ineligible to go to the Olympics.
