It's very... disgusting... to see Liu's face as the thumbnail on nearly every bit of fs news from the NWG.

https://weibo.com/2044155203/O2fl8i9h2 So it's actually the q call on the +3T that dropped him from 56 TES in real time to 51 TES... which is just dumb. You give it huge GOE not knowing the call - which means you thought it was a great jump. Seeing the call, you give it negative GOE. What sense does it make? And they still forget that the actual 4Lz - the leading part of the jump - was great and does deserve positive credit...

(the +3s and +2s on the 3A are completely misplaced, though - really deserved 0s and -1s)

Haven't had the time to watch, but just saw a tweet - seems the Pairs Free Skate just concluded, and the podium is 1. Peng/Wang, 2. Zhang/Huang, 3. Zhang/Yang. (Would say this was expected)

Men's standings after the SP are 1. Boyang 2. David 3. Han Wenbao (finished third at Senior Nationals)

I... missed the ladies competition altogether, apparently, but the standings are 1. Jin Shuxian 2. An Xiangyi 3. Zhang Mengqi... I did NOT expect a 12 year old to win this... or compete in this...

Re-posting here from the Chinese news thread in GSD:
https://weibo.com/1747927481/O2h1QAHoj

Beverly YI Zhu said NWG was her last competition in her career.
Machine translated excerpt:
On February 25, in the figure skating event (open group) of the 14th National Winter Games, women's single skating, Zhu Yi scored 100.82 points in the free skate, with a total score of 147.03 points.

@ Zhu Yi beverly : "Today I competed with a more enjoyable attitude and wanted to enjoy this last game."
From the same source (CGTN Sports Report on weibo):

12-year-old JIN Shuxian scored 122.57 points in the free skate, with a total score of 185.27, winning the gold medal.

AN Xiangyi scored 116.25 points in the free skate, totaling 181.77 and won the silver medal.

CHEN Hongyi scored 96.50 points in the free skate, with a total score of 146.38.

ETA that 11 Women's FS videos have been added to the same channel - here are the medalists:

Shuxian JIN, age 12: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJeWuk_1VvE
Xiangyi AN, 17: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wruLr-pMstc

Boyang stayed on his feet, but clearly the 4 programs within a week thing is just too much for him. Hope he paces himself for worlds! Score was 173.89.

I thought the body movement was cleaner than in the team event, so there's that.

Just for the record, I didn't even see 👁👄👁/💩 in gala...

I mean they aren't here right? And CGTN didn't post a vid of their gala either (the other winners had theirs posted). They only seemed to have turned up during the speech Jin was giving at the end (can't find the vid right now). So yeah, fingers crossed.

Just watched a bit of this competition.

Very impressed by David / DVD ... wonderful 3A, fluid movements, some attempts at interpreting the music (who is his choreographer? Constanze Paulinius?). Iffy spins & bland costume though.

Hope to see him on the big stage!! (Boyang Jin needs some successors ...)

He was at Cup of China as well as Shanghai Trophy and 4CC.

He has beautiful knees and great edging, very pure jump technique (even if inconsistent, and some jumps are missing...), and I hope to see him getting more support after his second place in the IE and Guangdong winning second overall in the TE.

I don't know who Constanze Paulinius is, honestly, she must be the in-house choreographer for his home team. A new choreographer would be good to begin.

Constanze Paulinius was a German competitor in the 1990s / 2000s :)

It's been some time since any Chinese men burst onto the scene and caught my attention LOL ... hope that DVD can be the worthy successor to Jin (yes, lovely pure technique he has!!)
