Is this on video? As you describe it, it sounds like something very, very wrong is going on, and not the treatment of the subject in the media. A five-year-old boy who jests about things like that is disturbed, so we should, I suppose hope for his sake that he was telling the truth.

Nobody cares? Are you kidding? He has more followers on his instagram than the most of the active skaters.

But are they real people or products of a troll farm?

@Vagabond Exactly what I was thinking. I know quite a few 4/5-year-olds (and have taught 50+ of them in various skating classes) in my neighborhood and none would joke about something that dark. There's the usual poop/fart jokes, exaggerating how far they ran or how well they did at an activity, talking about how they have the best toys, nonstop blabbering about what they learned in preschool, etc.

Not a single one would even know what being whipped was unless you specifically told them, and even then I doubt they'd joke about it or even remember the significance of it the next day.

As I said above, hitting your kid with a strap will never be okay. And pimping your kid out as a model before they are 1 isn't okay.

I am not shocked by this AT ALL. Even before this article came out The modeling, The much too rigorous skating schedule for a 5-year-old, having his own social media accounts at the age of 5, Plushenko wanting him to be a mini-me of himself (costumes/hairstyle) and the melancholy expressions on his face in many photos spoke volumes. Plushenko and his wife are canceled.

I think it is crazy. My son went to school with a kid on a TVO show. His parents essentially pimped him out for years. They drive around in their fancy car and big house on his dime and he is left with nothing of the money he earned.

One offs is cool but when it is all about the parents, I find it revolting.

In fact I am the one who helps those people move on from their abuse as adults.
