Combined Total Elements Scores (CTES)

Skaters/couples participating in the following Figure Skating Championships must have reached the following Combined Total Elements Scores (SP/RD + FS/FD) during the ongoing season (2024/25) or the immediately preceding season (2023/24):

ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2025:
MEN 104.00
WOMEN 90.00
PAIR SKATING 88.00
ICE DANCE 94.00

ISU European, ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2025:
MEN 86.00
WOMEN 75.00
PAIR SKATING 75.00
ICE DANCE 85.00

ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2025:
JUNIOR MEN 80.00
JUNIOR WOMEN 72.00
JUNIOR PAIR SKATING 63.00
JUNIOR ICE DANCE 71.00

The Combined Total Elements Score (not including Component Scores) is calculated by adding the Skaters/Couples highest Technical Elements Score in Short Program / Rhythm Dance and the Free Skating / Free Dance and must have been reached in an ISU recognized International Competition (as per Article 39, paragraph 7 of the ISU Constitution and Rule 107, paragraphs 1 to 10 of the ISU General Regulations) during the ongoing or preceding season (See ISU Special Regulations Single &Pair Skating Ice Dance, Rule 378, paragraph 4). The Skaters/Couples highest Technical Elements Score in Short Program / Rhythm Dance and the Free Skating / Free Dance to calculate the Combined Technical Elements Score may be reached at different competitions.

The Minimum Technical Elements Score must be reached 28 (twenty-eight) days before the first day(first official practice day) of the Championships concerned (same as entry deadline).

If it would become evident that the number of entries based on the Combined Total Elements Scores listed above would be significantly higher or lower than expected, the ISU Council reserves the right to adjust the Combined Total Elements Scores in order to achieve the above-mentioned objective. ISU Members will be informed latest 45 days prior to the entry deadline of the respective Championships if the announced required Combined Total Elements Score will be adjusted or will remain as announced. In case of the continental Championships the announcement for both European and Four Continents Championships will be made 45 days prior to the entry deadline of the earlier Championships, in this case the European Championships.

I was looking at some numbers to see how much the totals from last year differ from the combined totals for this season, and I think I got them right, but corrections are very, very welcome:

Worlds:
M-last year (34+64)=98, this year=104, +6/+6%
W-last year (32+53)=85, this year=90, +5/6%
P-last year (29+46)=75, this year=88, +13/+17%
D-last year (35+52)=87, this year=94, +7/+8%

Euros/4C's:
M-last year (28+46)=74, this year 86, +12/+16%
W-last year (25+42)=67, this year 75, +8/+12%
P-last year (25+42)=67, this year 75, +8/+12%
D-last year (30+48)=78, this year 85, +7/+9%

Jr. Worlds:
M-last year (25+44)=69, this year 80, +11/+16%
W-last year (25+40)=65, this year 72, +7/+11%
P-last year (23+34)=57, this year 63, +6/+11%
D-last year (24+38)=62, this year 71, +9/+15%

At this rate with the new CTES requirements, worlds could be over in an afternoon!
They're going to need to raise the Ice Dance CTES if they want to get it below 7 warm-up groups for Worlds. Something tells me they didn't do the basic math there to figure out how high they needed to raise it in order to have 6 warm-up groups for the RD.

May I ask are Asian Winter Games and FISU World University Games ISU recognized International Competitions to achieve CTES?

^^^ I clearly remember that some skaters’ names appeared in the ISU’s TES lists after the 2023 World University Games in Lake Placid.

ETA:

Perhaps the excerpt below from ISU Communication 2550 applies re. technical panel composition? https://current.isu.org/docman-docu...munications/31065-isu-communication-2550/file
3.5.3. Composition of Technical Panel and Panel of Judges International Competition
The Technical Panel (Technical Controller and the two (2) Technical Specialists) are from
three (3) different ISU Members. In addition, the Technical Panel and the Panel of Judges
must fulfill the requirements of rule 420.
...
3.6. Regional International Competition (e.g., Nordics, Asian Winter Games etc.) or competitions,
which are open only for special groups of skaters (e.g., Universiade, European Youth
Olympic Festival, Olympic Qualifying Competition, etc..) and events with invitations only to
designated Members (except the ISU Grand Prix events), etc. will not count for the ISU
World Standings/Season’s World Ranking.

(y) Yes -- for example, listed in ISU Season Technical Element Score Statistics 2023/2024 for Ice Dance are scores from 2023 World University Games for Koncius/Shchepetov USA; and Ling/Wein USA.

May I ask are Asian Winter Games and FISU World University Games ISU recognized International Competitions to achieve CTES?

I suspect that scores from Asian Winter Games also would count?
Listed in ISU Season Technical Element Score Statistics - 3 seasons* 2021/2022 for Men are scores from 2019 Southeast Asian Games (similar type of event) for Julian Yee MAS; Micah Kai Lynette THA; and others.
[*3 seasons because of the pandemic]

Kudryavtseva/Karankevich (CYP) just got their CTES for Euros at Santa Claus Cup.

I wouldn't be surprised if they can make the Worlds' minimum tomorrow. They are now 3 points off.

At Bosphorus Cup:
Dobroserdova/Pellegrini (Armenia) and Delcamp/Akalin (Turjey) got the Euros minimum
Chung/MacKenzie (Sweden) got the Junior Worlds minimums

Never mind. I was wrong. They were very far today. Quite a few mistakes (twizzles and curve lifts judging by the protocols.

Aleksander Vlasenko (Hungary) met the TES for Worlds at Santa Claus Cup.
Lena Cusak (Croatia) got the minimum for Junior Worlds at Boshporus Cup.
