If France would be 18th, Czech 17th, USA 16th bla bla, I’d be pissed that their teammates scores are holding their spots while I finished 15th, which is something this system tried to do away with anyways.

That's not what the system was trying to do away with: it is meant to keep members from holding spots based on skaters that didn't make the FS, to keep teams from gaining extra spots automatically with fewer skaters than those spots, and to ensure that all of the teams that earned three or two get those entries, if they have at least two skaters in the mix.

It was never meant to ensure that any country that had one entry to be guaranteed a spot in the Olympics, even if that works out in singles, this time because they split 29 as 24 Worlds + 5 at OQE instead of 23 Worlds + a full flight of 6 at OQE.
