I doubt I'll have enough vacation time to go to Boston, so this will be my best opportunity.

Going by past history, USFS tends to prioritize the highest ranked skater/team at Worlds for SA vs the nat'l champ, if those skaters are not the same person. And as a seeded skater, Isabeau did have her choice of events. They could have had both at SA, like last year, but USFS probably wanted to spread them out to maximize their chances of making the GPF (i.e. not cancel each other out). I suspect the same thinking was at play when deciding not to have Jason at SA.
