Now that the Games are over, what are your favorite programs by discipline/by phase (short & long)?


Here’s my own list:

In preparing the list, I focused not on performance (execution & scores) but on the pleasure derived in seeing a well-crafted program, with music that I love. In other words, I considered all competitors…not just medalists.

The lists are in order skated. Bold = my absolute tops!

MEN SPs:

Litvintsev - Bells of Moscow

Kurakova - Sentimental Waltz
Liu - Don Q Gypsy Dance
You - Whirling Winds
Shcherbakova - Dangerous Affairs…my absolute gem among SPs!! Mix of baroque & modern. She flies like a zephyr, matching music perfectly. Whee!

Women’s FS:

Kurakova - Chaplin
Schizas - Mme Butterfly
Mikutina - Primavera/Experience
Schott - Rain in Your Black Eyes
Gubanova - W.E. s/t
Kim - Turandot
Liu - Tchaikovsky Violin C.
Higuchi - Lion King…masterpiece!!!

Pairs SPs: the one discipline event with the most crapolla pop-vocals…ugh! Pairs used to mean orchestral sweep.

Safina/Berulava - Moonlight (although it would’ve been better w/o vocals)

Pent/Jin - Piano & I
Sui/Han - Mission Imp (Nyah)
Tarasova/Morozov - Galatea

Pairs FPs:

What are your favorite programs from the 2022 Beijing Olympics? Did any particular program - not necessarily skater - move you & why?

So great to see them slay their demons and skate so well in the Olympics. Beautiful programs and beautiful skating.

Ice dance:

RD - None (I hated this season's RD)

FD-
Hubbell Donahue (they did it!)
Papadakis/Cizeron (I had missed them)
Sinitsina- Katsalopov (great job despite his injury)
Hawayek Baker (loved the use of Chopin)
Guignard Fabri

Men-

SP- Yuma and Shoma
LP- Hanyu (only because he is Hanyu)

Women-

SP-
Kamila- the best, even with a mistake
Anna - she gets it done when she must
Wakaba - (despite the awful music)

LP-
Anna- nerves of steel and a complete skater. Never count her out.
Sasha- The gutsiest young lady. She won the LP. I wish she had won the gold, but I am happy for Anna
They were dazzling.

I have kind of forgotten the rest.

I’m surprised that you didn’t include Wakaba’s Lion King LP but included her Your Song SP…with which we coincide.

I was thinking that a lot of my top-fave programs won’t be seen at Worlds…not just by Russians but also Brown, Hanyu and Sui/Han. That leaves, for me, among the absolute gems:

1. Kagiyama’s Gladiator LP
2 & 3. Pap/Cizeron’s two programs (Waacking & Faure)
4. Hawayek/Baker’s Chopin
5. Wakaba’s Lion King

My longer list (at top of this thread) includes several others but these five programs are my absolute gems…what I’m looking forward to seeing again at Worlds.
