Coloured skate blades

I remember being so in love with the rose gold blades that John Wilson made for Evgenia Medvedeva.

I recall her wearing them at some competitions. Savchenko also ordered a pair.

I know that some skaters like Yuzuru also wear the black coloured blades by John Wilson (which were designed by Misha Ge). The black ones are really cool and they blend very well into the boot.

I'm honestly surprised we don't see more of the girls using pink coloured blades or the rose gold ones. Is it a durability issue? Or do the ladies not like drawing attention to the blades?

Love the rose gold blades, they are so beautiful! Not sure why coloured blades aren't catching on as quickly, but I think cost could be a factor.

Coloured blades are often more expensive, and as the colour is plated on can be chipped and scratched.

But also...do you really want the judges' attention drawn to your feet more than it already is? Even a lot of very good skaters would answer "no" to that!
