Figure skating motion tracking experiments for artistic research

I wanted to share this here in case anyone found this interesting, and also it is a project very near to my heart. I am a composer by profession but recently returned to my first passion, figure skating, after a very long break. I have decided to merge the two worlds and purse an artistic research project using the motion tracking of figure skating movement (through accel/gyro laced into boot) as an interface for musical expression. The first video was just an initial experimentation with some of the musical possibilities of the system, and I was really happy with the possibilities for musicality that it provided so I then created two more focused "artistic documentation" videos. All of the sound was in some way affected by the figure skating movement, and then I layered the sounds to create these more artistic renderings of our motion tracking experiments. (Disclaimer: I am not a skater, so of course there is only basic movement tracked. This is the very beginning of the project, which we have done on a budget of 0, but we hope to expand and grow the project)
