Salatzki/Roeseler posted on their IG that they were at the Qualifikations Test Skate 2024 Berlin -

Sounds like a 007 program based on the audio & costumes.

Also - is it possible they're going to do the JGP this season? They're young enough and given that their first full senior season was not too successful, it may make more sense to at least aim for some prize money and possibly making the JGPF this fall.

The test skate in Berlin was for the JGP selection. There are some pictures here:
https://eislauffotos.de/piwigo/index.php?/category/2575
(not complete yet)

I assume that the numbers on the picures for the free are the results (but I don't know that for sure)

So these were the participants:

1. Anna Gerke (N1 B)
2. Olesya Ray (J1)
3. Julia Grabowski (J4, now coached by Michael Huth and Nicole Schott, who was in Berlin with her)
4. Sophie Erhardt
5. Anna Grekul (J12)
6. Valentina Andrianova
7. Marie Bierwert (N2 B)
8. Frida Herrmann (N5 A)

1. Aliyah Ackermann/Tobias Harms (J2)
2. Janne Salatzki/Lukas Röseler (S2, indeed back to juniors)

1. Darya Grimm/Michail Savitskiy (J1)
2. Alexia Kruk/Jan Eisenhaber (J3)
3. Lilia Schubert/Nikita Remeshevskiy (J2)
4. Enikö Kobor/Zoard Kobor (N1)
5. Nelly Hemcke/Artyom Sladkov

1. Genrikh Gartung (switched from Russia)
6. Augustin Perthus (switched from the US)
Soner Öztürk (J4)
Hugo Herrmann (J2)
Luca Fünfer (J1)
Leon Rojkov (J3)
Alexander Vlascenko
Robert Wildt

Can't wait to see Grimmskiy's programs. Also, I do hope Michail grows his hair back out.

Lets hope they publish the results and first half of assignments soon.

There is a 2nd test skate as part of the Senior Monitoring in August that skaters that missed the July one due to injury or other approved reason can enter.
Anyone know why the others Junior pairs did not attend?

I have my doubts anyone other than Grimm & Staviskiy would be even considered if they were to ask for THA or CHN. But its save to assume these 2 spots will not be used.

Hoping Grimmskiy take the title this year but they have some stiff competition. Is there video of their new programs yet?

Good decision for Salatzki/Roeseler to go back on the JGP this season, I think. There's an opportunity there, IMO, for them to qualify for the JGPF.

This weekend the Senior monitoring/Challenger qualification takes place in Oberstdorf. The DEU has lots of videos in their Instagram stories, and many pictures are here:
https://eislauffotos.de/piwigo/index.php?/category/2594

The participants are:

Minerva Hase/Nikita Volodin
Annika Hocke/Robert Kunkel
Laetizia Roscher/Luis Schuster

Jennifer Janse van Rensburg/Benjamin Steffan
Charise Mattei/Max Liebers
Karla Maria Karl/Kai Hoferichter

Nikita Starostin
Kai Jagoda
Arthur Mai

Sarah Pesch
Hanna Keiss

Kristina Isaev and Grimm/Savitskiy took part in the official team photo shoot on Friday, but they are not skating in the qualification.
Grimm/Savitskiy are probably skating only junior this season after all, but I`m not sure what the issue is with Isaev, maybe injury.

Isaev missed the test skate due to illness.

Interview with Grimm / Savitskiy by Anything GOES, ca. 13 min

really good and interesting interview
they want to go to JGPF
after JGPs they will try seniors, put an effort into their programs for seniors
talking about Olys next year (what a pity that GER has only one spot at Euros)

News about Grimm/Savitzky's coaching situation:

They will try out different schools. The next 2 weeks they will spend at YGA. Crossing my fingers for them that they find a good coaching situation.
What an effing mess - but this may turn into a blessing in disguise. The Ankara field is deep and if they wind up not making the JGPF then they'll have plenty of time to try out different schools and find the right match during the fall and get a head start on transitioning to senior earlier.

i don’t know if Germany would want to switch horses at this point in the Olympic cycle, especially since Janse van Rensberg/Steffan were 11th and only one spot away from securing 2 spots for Germany at Euros last season. If JVR/S can get that second spot back for 2026, and if Grimm/Savitskiiy can earn it, that would at least give them senior championship experience heading into the next quad. And G/S absolutely have to get their coaching sorted. You can’t Mirai Nagasu your way onto podiums and international teams sans a coach.

Next season is the Olympic season.

I don't think there's much of a chance, with GrimSav's coaching situation currently in disarray, of them displacing JvRStef this season so there's every reason to expect JvRStef will be sent to Euros and Worlds this year. They're not going to earn 2 Euros spots for 2026 though*. There's no reason to stick with JvRStef during the Olympic season and send them to Euros/the Olympics/Worlds if they aren't producing results - better to move on and set GrimSav up for the new quad a season early.

*They were 11th last January in a field that didn't include SmaDie because the Spanish fed was stupid, not to mention they got beat at Worlds by not just SmaDie but also SouFir and BekHern.

It’s likely that GER will need to earn an Olympic spot at the qualifying competition. If JVR/S go to Euros and worlds this season, I don’t see G/S being sent to the Olympic qualifier with no Sr. GP, Euros, or Worlds experience. Then if JVR/S earn GER an Olympic spot, I’d think that the spot would be theirs. Essentially, either JVR/S produce results, which gives GER an Olympic spot that will likely go to the team that earned it, or they don’t and there’s no Olympic spot to fight over (though maybe that makes Euros and Worlds more up for grabs).

If there’s any way for GrimmSav to earn their way to the #1 sr dance spot in Germany, make it happen! The Van Rensburg team has never done it for me, sorry. No comparison.

So, let's play a game here... Germany will certainly earn at least 2 spots in Pairs for the Olympics (Miniki & HocKun). Of the remaining three disciplines, while I think that JvRStef are the most likely to earn a spot at the Oly qualifier next fall, what if, by some miracle, either Starostin or Isaev pull off the unexpected and earn 1 spot (at either Worlds or the Oly qualifier) and JvRStef don't - this isn't out of the realm of possibility - the singles disciplines are quite unpredictable and both of them are in that range of skaters who could, on any given day, do what it takes to earn the spot, whereas dance is much more rigid and, barring a major error in a program, you don't see much movement and JvRStef may very well be pre-determined out of an Oly spot.

In this scenario, Germany has spots in 3 disciplines and likely qualifies for the TE. Whomever they send to the Olympics is only there for the TE - and for just the RD at that because there's no way Germany's making the FS portion of the TE. Do you think that JvRStef, who couldn't secure the ID individual Oly spot, are going to be sent over GrimSav? I don't. I think the German fed would be smart to send GrimSav just for the experience of competing at the Olympics alone and to send a message to the rest of the feds that they believe in and are fully behind their up-and-coming team.

That’s a very intriguing scenario. I would hope that Germany would look at international results from the 2025-2026 season and ideally a couple head-to-head competitions to select their team.

Why did they (G/S) stop to train with Sinicin?
There are reports of a conflict, but no one seems to know for sure yet what it was about.

Post from Darya today:

"Thank you everyone, who supported us in such a hard time, but also to the people who will continue supporting us along the way, especially for the next couple of weeks. We are thankful to have every single one of you and especially each other. And we will come back stronger. See you in Ankara! ❤️"

Could someone please summarize what happened when to their training situation? I listened to the interview by Anything GOE linked above but they said nothing then. When was it taken? Where they without coaches in Riga (could not watch, sorry)? Thank you

Again, we know nothing except that there was a conflict and a split, which apparently happened about two weeks ago (post-Anything GOE interview). Martin Skotnicky took over their coaching in the interim, and Neil Brown was with them in the K&C at Riga. They're now going to Matteo Zanni to see if that will work out for them.

Well, not quite. Their plan is to try several different ice dance groups. Zanni's is the first and they'll be there for the next two weeks ahead of their 2nd JGP in Ankara. They may decide it's a good fit and not pursue any other tryouts or they may keep exploring their options. If IAM isn't an option then I'd actually not mind seeing them give things a try in Helsinki with Maurizio Margaglio's group or in Madrid with SK Ice Dance School.
