Petrokina, Niina 🇪🇪
Coach: Svetlana Varnavskaja
Music: Dusty Road, Prelude (The Age of Heroes)

2A+3T
3Lz+1Eu+3S
3F!q - fall

Fly Ch Combo Spin 4
3Lz

2F+2T - got up on the toepick on the toeloop
Ch Combo Spin 4
Step Sequence 3
2A
Layback Spin 4

Choreo Sequence

A bit of a mixed bag for Petrokina. Probably does enough to stay in the top 4, and maybe get on the podium depending on what we see in the next few skaters.

125.46 = 1st Place
188.04 = 1st Place

Another downturn for Petrokina.

Maddie keeps moving up…I think? No.

3Aq - step out
2A+3T

Fly Ch Combo Spin 4
3F!
3Lz+3T
Choreo Sequence
3Lz

3S+2A+1T+SEQ - Axel was overrotated
Ch Combo Spin 4
Step Sequence 4

Sit Spin 4

Quality elements throughout that program - just an issue with the Axels. The program doesn't really pop, but it works for her skating.

139.32 = 1st Place
203.97 = 1st Place

Yoshida's triple axel was tilted in the air but she somehow landed it (not well, but landed). The other standalone jumps looked solid (sequence and combo iffy). Great program and really well presented.

I'm going to have to assume Watanabe's costume means something in relation to the music because there is no other explanation as to why someone would say yes to it.

Not a huge amount of expression, but jumps all looked good. Spins very slow though. Nice to see a skater who seems happy with their performance.

A wonderful skate for Rinka. The jumps are small but solid technique, and clean execution.

A very tense skate for Hendrickx following the opening error. This isn't going to stand up technically. :(

Not the quality that we saw at Skate America, but still it's a great entertaining program. I'm not sure that a Chinese audience knew how to react to this program - they were pretty quiet until the very end.

130.84 = 3rd Place
201.49 = 3rd Place

Justice!!! Loopless Loena finally dinged although I’d have called even more rotations and her flutzes. Lucky to even medal. IMO even Madeline Schizas was better across both programs. Hope this is the start of the judges seeing through her smoke and mirrors choreography. The World Championships should not be reduced to holiday on ice, and she should be nowhere near a podium even when clean.

I didn't see the short but I would have had Rinka first overall.

I'm not a fan of people ending programs with sit spins, but hers was lovely and dynamic.

As I reffed for 20 plus years, I have a thing for zebra prints so if course I loved her dress. (In the US, referees frequently wear vertical black and white stripes and are called "zebras.")

I miraculously managed to stay unspoiled despite Mark's best efforts -- I was always, fortunately, turning on a feed just after he said something, or stepping out of the room when he did. :lol: I'm thankful for that, because wow, that was exciting to watch unspoiled. How thrilling for Hana! And RINKA! :cheer2: I'm so happy she proved me wrong!
