I don't know who did this, but I'm not a big believer in coincidences in these type of situations. I hope it isn't an attempt to derail the hostage deal. If these people are somehow related to the Muslim Brotherhood or Iran, then the U.S. and Canada may be forced to respond militarily because it happened on our border.

CNN Live Updates

Apparently, the vehicle was coming across the border and exploded in its way to a secondary search site.

All of the U.S./Canada border crossings are locked down.

No other word yet on any other casualties.

I'm seeing other reports online that the vehicle may have come from the U.S. side. But it's early and they're still investigating.

Watching CBS. A Canadian official said all four bridges between the U.S. and Canada at Niagara Falls are closed. He didn't mention other border crossings.

The Rainbow Bridge is always quicker than the Peace Bridge, but what a weird place for a terrorist attack. There's really not much there. And, from the sounds of it, they didn't really accomplish much other than killing themselves and the fear, of course. You guys are way quicker with your information than the Buffalo news channels.

Fox says the vehicle was coming from USA into Canada and was targeting the Border Security Office Building (Maybe targeting USA border agents? as eye witnesses said the car was driving erratically, swerved across the road and went into a fence.)

eta this guy says he witnessed it happen

How can Fox know what the target really was? I think we need to wait awhile to really know what was going on with this.

According to the various officials and agencies there is no indication this was terrorism. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed and exploded due to the impact.

They've also tracked the vehicle to a casino and identified the driver as someone who regularly frequented the casino.

Definitely need to STOP jumping to conclusions.

I'm pretty sure if a car went airborne in a non border city, and killed 2 occupants it would not be national - international news.

Eye witness reports estimated 70-90 mph. But eyewitnesses aren't always super reliable.

I was thinking it had to be closer to 100 mph. You’d think traffic would have been congested enough - especially the day before Thanksgiving- that a car couldn’t have enough room to accelerate that much. I’m just relieved no one else or other vehicles weren’t hit.

I think the size of the fireball led many to initially think it HAD to involve explosives.

I'd say the Rainbow Bridge is more a local favorite bridge. Not really the most traveled crossing between the US and Canada. It makes sense to me that it wasn't congested at 11 am.
