Former Boulder County (Colorado) clerk Clela Rorex died. In 1975, she was a very young County Clerk who issued marriage licenses to six gay couples. This story/interview with her really brings me back to life in the 1970s in the midst of the women's equality movement and early stages of the gay rights efforts in the US. It is worth the read:

In 2014, just a year before Clela Rorex stood on the steps of the Boulder County Courthouse, celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges recognizing the legality of same-sex marriages, we caught up with her to discuss those days back in 1975, when "a moment of courage" shifted the course of her life. Here's that interview:

What an awesome person. And I love that the man she defeated in the primary had to physically be removed from the office. That is funny.

I recently watched "The Offer" about the making of the "The Godfather." Apparently the man who played Talia Shire's husband in "The Godfather" was something of a jerk and actually did punch her in the scene when her husband hurts her. Sonny (Caan) retaliates and an angry Coppola told Caan to let that actor have it. And he did. He was nothing if not tenacious. RIP

It’s insane that James Caan never won an Oscar or Golden Globe.

I’ll always think that Sonny had the most epic death scenes all in The Godfather movies.

Caan was woefully underrated for his performance in Misery, IMHO.

Loved him in Bottle Rocket, just for doing the movie as much as for his performance.

I remember Paul Sorvino as being an expert on the operatic tenor voice. I remember listening for an hour one Saturday morning on my local classical radio station as he analyzed the attributes of many of the famous tenors of the last 60 years. His favorite was Jussi Bjorling. I really enjoyed his expertise. I also adored him in Slow Dancing in the Big City.

The first time I remember paying attention to David Warner was in Time After Time, The 39 Steps, and the TV miniseries Masada in the late '70s and early'80s. I paid attention from then on.

@A.H.Black I had completely forgotten about Masada - that was a great series. I first saw him in The Omen, which was the first 18-and-over movie that I went to before I turned 18 :shuffle:

I always loved hearing him talk about opera, and he has perfect taste in tenors. He's from a generation of Italian-Americans where choosing a Swede as his favorite was near to blasphemy. I also remember that Sorvino's character on Law & Order was often quietly wise.

David Warner was amazing as the evil Gul Madred in the two Chain of Command episodes in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Tony Dow, who played Wally on Leave it to Beaver, has passed away at age 77:

"Dow’s son, Christopher Dow, told Fox News, “This is a difficult time. Yes, he is still alive, but in his last hours; under hospice care.” "

What I remember the most about Sorvino was the pride on his face when he was in the audience watching his daughter receive an Oscar. ( I think it was the Oscars)
Yes it was. Bawling his eyes out.
Here's a clip:

Mira tweeted this yesterday: https://twitter.com/MiraSorvino/status/1551644984037691392
My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed. My heart is rent asunder- a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over. He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend.
And today: https://twitter.com/MiraSorvino/status/1552040469479116800
Overwhelmed with gratitude for all the outpouring of love for my father and our family. If he can sense it now it will mean so much to him to be so appreciated, so beloved. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the unexpected blessing of your care.

It looks like Sundance is playing the Sorvino "Law and Episode" episodes. They began in 1991. Electric typewriters and a very young Chris Noth. Sorvino's detective was a gentle giant in the show.
