So while we're all waiting for Rostelecom to start and always thirsty for more skating media/analysis, I thought I'd come out of lurkdom to announce a new figure skating podcast I wanted to share with fellow skating fans.
My name is Joe Erbentraut and a dear friend, Sylvia Rodemeyer, and I just launched our own new podcast called Iced Coffee for the Olympic season. We've been watching and/or participating in the sport for 20+ years -- Sylvia as a skater, coach and journalist, myself as a journalist and both of us as long-time fans as well.
We already had been hosting a pop culture podcast called Coffee and Bars (yes, it's a Kirstie Alley/Drop Dead Gorgeous reference) and this new podcast essentially lives within that podcast.
On our weekly episodes, we'll be recapping each of the season's major events. In addition, we'll be exploring parallels between skating and popular culture, as well as those between the current skating season and our nostalgia for the sport's heydays in the '90s. We also anticipate bringing on some fellow fans and skaters as guests in the weeks and months ahead.
Our first two episodes are live below, offering our Grand Prix season preview and a little bit more background on ourselves and how we were attracted to the sport. We'd love it if you give us a listen and we hope you enjoy it!
