It’s been a while since I’ve been on here since I’ve had a very sick family member, but just wondering if Kristi Yamaguchi is still married? Every time I see her post on Instagram lately, her husband is never with her.

Was just doing a deep dive into 1991 Worlds and am completely FLABBERGASTED by the Australian judge's marks.

In the short program they gave Kristi third behind Josee Chouinard which was weird but the long was I N S A N E. They marked Kristi 4th behind Harding, Kerrigan and Ito (who I love but was a MESS) and tied with Josee Chouinard. Who was this freak of nature?! What drugs was this person on? Were they ever allowed to judge again?!

If it helps, this was the first year without compulsory figures at Worlds. Some of the skaters had never been to Worlds, including those that could have medaled, and the SP skate order was random, rather than indicating who was in contention for the championship after figures.

Also, all of those skaters you listed were capable of doing bigger jumps than Kristi of the same type. Kristi was also a weaker spinner.

Kristi was 4th at 1990 Worlds behind Holly Cook, largely due to inconsistent execution, and it had never been thought that she would ever be more than in contention for bronze, particularly since Ito and Harding had recently beat her.

Harding did the 3A, 3Lz, 3F, and 3Lp in the LP at 1990 Worlds. Many believe Tonya would have taken the championship if she had just done a 3S or 3T because the argument for Krist summed up to that she did 5 triples while Tonya did 4 triples.

In other words, Kristi Yamaguchi was not Kristi Yamaguchi yet.
