I kinda miss the days when US skaters used to skate to country music. It was wrong and entertaining all at the same time.

I think the new FD of Juulia Turkkila & Matthias Versluis is this:
Schubert:Piano Sonata No.20 in A Major
Alexei Krasnozhon skated to "Rodeo" by Aaron Copland in 2016-17.Since when? Bates/Samuelson’s RD (folk dance theme; they chose US western) in 2010. Any since?
AnythingGOE tweeted the same clip yesterday with " Turkkila/Versluis - Schubert: Piano Sonata No. 20 in A Major, D. 959: IV. Rondo: (Allegretto)": https://twitter.com/AnythingGOE/status/1524450752671928320According to this story <link snipped>

That’s a classical ballet with folk tones (which I love). Not Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. He wasn’t skating to country music.Alexei Krasnozhon skated to "Rodeo" by Aaron Copland in 2016-17.
I remember when going to Skate America practices provided the first hint of music selections.A side note really but I really like this new tradition of skaters announcing their music on instagram - it's always fun to get a bit of a sneak peak and it's especially nice when lower ranked skaters truly have a moment of recognition for their choices
Yes, I know Aaron Copland writes classical music. You mentioned folk tunes and "western" in your post. I have a much broader idea of country or western than 'Grand Ole Opry' or Nashville. Copland's 'Rodeo' is a lot like the cowboy ballet numbers in the musical 'Oklahoma.' I'm from Oklahoma, so that may explain part of it.That’s a classical ballet with folk tones (which I love).
