I was checking on dates when talking to my kids I just noticed that it says on the USFS page that all-session skam tickets will be going on sale June 13th now. The single session ticket date remains the same.

Late reply but thank you for posting this. I thought I had made a mistake / was going crazy since I marked my calendar for June 6.

Any idea what time tickets go on sale? I couldn't find information anywhere. Maybe they'll just abruptly start selling them without any warning like they did last year

The FOFS presale is at noon so probably the same time for the regular sale.

Pre-sale link does not work (for now) and how am I not surprised, lol.

I received the following reply from USFS:

Hi,

The arena is having problems putting the event live. We are sending out an email shortly to everyone, but I will reply back once I have resolution on my end. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and the arena is working with TM to figure out the error.

The ticket pre-sales link now works. No promo code needed but you do need to be a member Friends of Figure Skating to purchase. Sections 104 & 105 directly behind the judges are blocked.
lol I was in 104 last year right behind the tech panel and was kind of surprised they let us sit there because it's where all the isu people were coming to sit too

As usual -
  • The link in the email did not work
  • USFS sent us an mail "we are working on this problem"
  • They actually sent some fans a promo code
  • But even before then, you can now enter the website through the link without the promo code (but we had not got the email saying the issue got resolved)
  • Sometime later we got the email saying "the issue got resolved"

OK, I see USFS is working hard, but can they just do (or ask the arena to do) a test-run to see if the website is actually working before starting the sales? (then they wouldn't get bothered by frustrated fans, lol)

I mean, you shouldn’t be surprised it’s not like we’re second-class citizens. I don’t think I’m gonna go to another event like this if they’re gonna always block the best seats and the house for people that aren’t even paying for the seats to sit there.

I was considering going to Skate America since it is just a skip down the road but not when I see the seats blocked again. Most skater position most of their moves to the judges especially dance. It is not the same view from the other side I don’t care about how close we are.

to be clear they weren't blocked off last year. We bought them when they went on sale to the general public (I'm not fofs) and there was nothing blocked off that I saw.

Got nearly same seats that I had last year (114 front row). Loved the view and proximity to kiss & cry. (Also considered section 106, but remembered that the seats are a bit further back on that side of arena.) It did take me many attempts and some back and forth with USFSA to get a working link, but was worth it.

I’m more referring to Boston worlds also having the same policy that they’re blocking off the seats behind the judges for the ISU. It is annoying. I always try to sit behind the judges. It does come in some negatives because sometimes coaches will go sit in those free seats and talk throughout the entire performance, but I usually glare at them and they stop.

At an event, an ISU person who is well known to the skating community sat in front me and kept talking to the guy sitting next to her. I told her "would you please be quiet?" and she stopped. But 15 minutes later she started talking again 😓 . I wondered if she was really interested in skating after all (except the top level skaters that she was paying attention to).

I was at 2009 worlds and Sandra Bezic and David Wilson or Scott Hamilton (yes they look different but I am now hazy which one it actually was) sat behind me in the cheap seats upstairs and started talking about Yu-na, Mao and about insider details about the women’s event and I was thoroughly interested, but then some yuna fans got mad at them and asked them to stop talking during some 20th ranked skaters LP. Actually I have to imagine it was Scott because they wouldn’t have shooed yunas choreographer away. They left after the skater finished. Oh well I guess I can’t have it both ways.

Marina zueva sat behind me and at 2019 nationals during the dance competition and like she was talking so loud over the music. I nearly lost my shit. I had already gone off on someone else that day during Mariah’s free skate which instead of being able to watch I learned that this lady was having problems selling her moms house because her brother wanted to live there instead but the house was in her name and all these random bullshit. My friend who was two seats down was like what did I think of Mariah skate… everyone was cheering and I said I wish I could tell you but the people behind us waned to squawk like chickens the entire time. They didn’t appreciate my LOUD comment.

I just say to people at concerts/plays/skating, “This is not the soundtrack to your conversation. Shut up or leave.” Works every time, although at one concert it was probably good that I had DH and another burley fan of the band right by me.

Confession time… my seats at 2024 nationals weren’t the greatest with NBC taking up lots of room in my section. I look over at one point to the almost always empty VIP seats and see my former seat neighbor moved there and was having an amazing time. From then on out, I intermittently snuck to those always empty seats but kept trying to think of an excuse of what to say if anybody ever cared.

Presumably, you learned that nobody cares? ;) (Well, except if someone is actually assigned to that seat....) My friends and I didn't sit in our real seats either...and we would have been happy to buy those seats originally but all but the highest rows in our section (judge side) were blocked for sale.

At a Skate Canada in Kitchener, our block of seats had our sightlines blocked by the technical panel platform and paraphernalia. I and another in our group defected and decamped to a corner section. It took me a while to understand that this was the skater families' box, where we saw a bunch of comings and goings.

Evan Bates' family was there -- Bates and Samuelson were still a team -- and for one of the medal ceremonies, he came into the box and sat between his family and my friend. My friend is very short, and it still makes me smile picturing the very tall Bates standing next to my friend during the anthem. He was very smart and funny, too, and his family was very nice. So go sit next to them.

I remember an online poster (here or at RSSIF, it was a long time ago) who was at either Skate America or US Nationals where Meno and Sand were competing. She was sitting in the stands and talking to her friend about Meno and Sand's outfits that year, which were pink, and how awful pink looked on redheads and how could anyone have thought it was a good idea to put Jenni in a pink dress. The lady sitting behind them leaned over and said, very politely, "I'm Jenni's mom".

So if you end up sitting near judges or officials or skaters, be careful what you say - at least out loud
