It takes an entirely different strategy & approach than the individual events. And given that we do have WTT every other year, plus the TE vibe at both WTT & the Olympics is a very different animal than the individual events, I think fans should start treating it as a separate discipline. ;)
Then the team event in Gymnastics has to be a separate discipline. I can not get on board with this logic.

Also, yes, I decided to stay up anyway. Screw my Sat. workout.

But isn't it? Countries put plenty of weight & value and discussion/strategizing into the WAG/MAG team events at both the Olympics and whenever it's competed at Worlds.

We're not at the point yet where federations are choosing who to put on their Olympic team based on the TE but we're certainly seeing discussions about the best disciplines to split based upon each team's relative strengths & the rest of the Olympic schedule.

I hope Alysa doesn’t think she has to get all serious because Olympics. She’s at her best with modern (ish) music that lets her bubble away on the ice.
I think she could do fine with something classical that has a flirtatious or coquettish vibe, but I agree in general.

It's a separate event. That doesn't make it a discipline.

On the event schedule, I see the exhibition tomorrow is 3 hours long. That's a lot. Do ALL the skaters perform in it?
I was just wondering. I think it would be kind of cruel with only 6 teams to leave out a handful of skaters from the exhibition. So hopefully 3 hours means they don't.

A few thoughts on day three:

I don't hate the Kovalevs James Bond program . It's hard to make this team look good, and this program does a passable job at a hard task. Her triple salchow attempt was as hopeless as Adam's various quads, though.

Efimova and Mitrofanov did indeed look like they had been on vacation.

Stellato's throws looked a lot better in this program. I'm in the minority (perhaps of one  ) who liked this program. I still think it's going to be an uphill battle for them to get near the podium next season.

Georgians, no arguing with the element quality.

Loved Conti and Macii. If the decision was mine, this would have been theirs.

No idea how Miura and Kihara listened to that music every day in training, but if I never hear it again, it will be too soon. Home cooking on the GOEs and calls.

Urushadze was a highlight, and I was hoping she'd at least beat Sara-Maude Dupuis, who should have gotten several more calls in addition to all her misses. So happy for her to have a career highlight performance after she probably thought her career was over.

I thought both Japanese women were gifted. I'd have called it:

1. Liu - absolute right call on PCS
2. Glenn - she needs to skate faster and with more attack
3. Gubanova
4. Guttman
5. Sakamoto
6. Chiba

I'd have called Sakamoto's jumps:
2A +5
3Lze -4
2A+1eu+3S< -2
3F +2
3F+3Tq -2
3Lze+2T -2
3Lo< -3

Call the f---ing "e" I'm going to go "boys who score" and show up at a competition with a huge poster saying that with a screen grab of the severe inside edge takeoff. It's a travesty. She is getting close to 10 undeserved points from these non-calls.

I also thought Gutmann should have been ahead of Mone, who fell and whose presentation is understandably less mature. Lara is a skater I appreciate much more after seeing her in person, she’s very elegant in her movement.

Kaori’s performance far outdid Gubanova’s but the latter was much cleaner on her jump landings. Not going to argue edge calls I can’t see. ;)

FWIW, my stepson and stepdaughter watched the women’s SP with me and know nothing about skating. Alysa won them over immediately.

Oh my gosh, I just finished everything, what a competition. Amber, what an amazing, amazing frisky, I clean, clean, free skate, that was just amazing.

I need to digest all of this.

A couple days ago I thought she wasn’t looking quite like herself and then she seem to be missing from the venue yesterday? Was she there?

And then to come out with that free skate I completely clean free skate it was just amazing. I totally thought she was gonna win the free even with a clean Alysa. I will say I do think Amber is getting hosed and PCS for some reason.

And then, Alysa, I don’t think she had a single fall or even a double all season? Nothing? Just some under rotations at the beginning of the season?

I mean, I know we don’t like to talk about locks, but I mean Amber and Alysa seem like locks for next season for sure.

OK as I start to scroll up, start looking at all of the comments since last night, just now…. How much more attack do you need for a completely clean triple axel? And this is her first clean free skate I think all triples. How much more attack do you want her to do lol.

Oh dear, I just check out the protocols ambers PCS are definitely low, in Anastasia territory. She’s getting hosed and I don’t know why here. I gotta go check out what she got for PCS in Italy, France, China and at the Grand Prix final. Four points lower than Alysa here?

I love them both, and Im so excited to go watch both of their programs again, but I think Alysa got the world champion bump.

Home ice is not easier for some skaters. I hope she doesn't do Skate America.

I think USFSA is going to choose Alysa as the world champion and she’ll be selected from the Seeded pool of top 1 – 3 at worlds

And then I hope Wakaba again, who finished sixth at worlds from the Seeded 4–6 pool.

Spread the wealth and have isabeau and Amber go elsewhere.
