Say, I was wondering...When we put our arms out like a T, we can just twist our arms. But how would you spin with your arms up above your head while making yourself tall? Can anyone help? Thanks.
@FSWer you can spin like that, but it's a more difficult way to spin.
The way it works is that while you're spinning you bring your arms into your chest, while keeping your elbows bent. Then you hold your hands together and slowly raise your hands up, and the rest of your arms will follow until your arms are stretched out over your head. When you raise your hands up, when they pass your face, you keep them as close to your face as you can, and then hold them right over your head. If your arms are further forward than your head, it will pull you off balance.
BUT it is really dangerous to do this if you don't have a strong and safe spin to begin with. If your arms are not right over your head, or if your body is not steady, you can fall out of the spin very easily and hurt yourself or the other skaters around you. Please don't try doing this until your coach says you are ready to try it. And please don't do it without your coach there to help if you need it.
