Limketkai - skating to "The Giving" by Michael W. Smith - this is going to be pretty-pretty. 3z - falls; 3f+2t - got it done; step seq - okay; camel spin - decent; 2a - good; I appreciate changing up the standard choreo & putting a jump as one of the last 3 elements, lol; combo spin - eh; sit spin - eh. I will not remember this program at any point in the future, I'm quite sure.

Gansukh - oh, lordy... she's skating to "Halo" by Beyonce. I'm over the Beyonce programs already. 2a - two-footed the landing; 3t - another two-foot landing; flying sit - eh; combo spin - also eh; 3s - falls, so no combo; step seq - bit of judges face time, lol; camel spin - okay. It wasn't horrible, but this music cut is terrible for a SP.

Samodelkina - 3z+3t - good; 2a - very nice; flying camel - nice; she has some nice expression & style, but this costume has got to go; 3f - smooth as butter; layback spin - good; step seq - bit slow, but agree with Belinda about her great musicality; combo spin - really good. I'd have her ahead of both of the Chinese women. We'll see what the judges do.

ETA - no, Belinda, that's not her coach sitting beside her.

Kaori - 2a - swish; 3z - bit forward on the landing but okay; flying camel - good; combo spin - also quite good; 3f+3t - done; step seq - powerful; layback - really nice. I don't love this program for her, but she delivered well today & will certainly lead.

Belinda is calling both jumps on the combo as q or <, so we'll see what her score looks like.

Silpa-Archa - she's coached by Olga Ganicheva, apparently; music is "Big Spender." 3s - falls, let's see if she puts the combo elsewhere; 2a - stayed up but she kind of spun out on the landing; flying sit - slow; 3t? - no combo; layback spin - nice speed; step seq - this is a club remix cover of Big Spender and I question it a lot; combo spin - eh, messy hop out exit.

ETA - Oh, Belinda, how stupid are you? Those are NOT photos of family members - those are the SCoB flight victims.

Okay, AWG organizers, the ice-resurfacing is done. Let's get this show on the road and get this last group of women done. It's been a hard slog through the first 20 and the last 5 don't promise much better.

Whew. This is competition segment has been a long slog.

Oh, and looking at the unofficial results - they're actually cutting 1 skater for the FS, so just 4 groups of 6. Yeowch.

PutRam - "Umbrellas of Cherbourg" - why? Twizzles - good first set, but both were shaky on the second set; I'm sorry, Belinda, but I have seen very few dance spins that I consider to be terribly inventive or much different from a pairs combo spin and this one is no different. I'm less impressed, and was bored.

XiaoHe - R&J musical in mint green & violet for her & sage green & black for him. Nice one-foot seq; twizzles - much better than yesterday; I really don't get the concept of these costumes; oh, now we're into the R+J movie soundtrack; slow on the choreo char seq IMO; not a lot of stamina to finish off with the choreo spinning element.

TaNishi - these costumes are a lot more flattering than the ones from yesterday; nice one-foot seq; this program has a very HawBak vibe; artistic dronework almost lost them on camera; I'm too lazy to look at the bio, but I think they're using at least some of The Piano Guys cover of "Fur Elise" and it lost the HawBak vibe. Yup, commentator guy confirmed it.

YoMori - what are the chances of two R&J programs in a competition with only 6 teams? This one is certainly the superior of the two. Their one-foot seq is lovely. Not a fan of the drone overhead camera for the lift view. Really good program. Should give them the gold even if the audience is being tepid because they want their own team to win.

ShiHonda - 2tw - fine, but ; throw 3s - fall; SBS 3z+2a+2a - nice; first lift - nice air position for her, but slow across the ice; throw 2z - fall and a long time to recover; SBS 3f - she popped & I think he doubled; second lift - nice; choreo seq - eh; final lift - okay; FIDS - fine; pairs combo spin - this one actually fits the music because it's so slow & anemic; but they finish well behind the music.

Meh. They won't be going to Worlds this year. China will be relying on Huang/Zhang to get the Oly spot next fall at the OQE.

RyomHan - these are different costumes from Lombardia/Nebelhorn, I'm quite certain. 3tw - okay; SBS 3t+2t - nice; SBS 2s - lololol; first lift - solid; throw 3s - hand down; pair spin - actually quite decent; choreo seq - not bad at all; throw 3lo - squat on the landing but she stayed on one foot; second lift - nice; FIDS - also nice; final lift - good. If the TES holds, they'll get the Worlds CTES min - I wonder if North Korea will send them to Boston (they aren't sending them to Seoul for 4CCs)...

NagaMori - 2tw -; SBS 3lo+2a+2a - fine; first lift - very fast across the ice - quite nice; SBS 3t - they both had issues with the landing; FIDS - nice; throw 3lo - fall; second lift - okay-ish; choreo seq - quite nice; throw 3s - she two-footed & not sure about rotation; final lift - good; pair spin - not a fan of her leg bent at the knee position - it breaks the line - eh.

TES is barely ahead of RyomHan, and I suppose they're probably going to eek out the silver, but I maybe would give it to the North Koreans.

GeyChig - 3tw - good; SBS 3t+2a - she put her foot down on the 3t & they were far apart; SBS 3lo - doubled; first lift - very creative first position; choreo seq - okay; throw 3lo - two-footed the landing; throw 3f -pitched forward but good; second lift - nice; final lift - another one with interesting positions; FIDS - nice; pair spin - slow. This program is meh, but should be enough to hold on for gold.

ETA - this male commentator annoys - UZB has, indeed, won only one AWG gold - but it wasn't at the first AWG - it was at the 4th, in 1999, and I'm sure anyone reading this thread can guess who that gold medalist was, lol. Hint - her husband won silver at that AWG too; and she won silver at the 1996 AWG.
