Ep 4 of the new Mrs Maisel season has an industrial musical number that's a hoot! There's a section that's very reminiscent of the Gene Kelly/Michael Kidd/Dan Dailey trash-can-lid dance number in It's Always Fair Weather. Other than this, I can't say I've been impressed with this season, but I think I liked the first episode the best.

I thought of It's Always Fair Weather too, @annie720! :) That aside -- there was some good stuff in the musical, but it felt like a bit much ... especially when it started all over again! The Palladinos are definitely showing signs of that self-indulgence they've displayed before when they didn't have anyone reining them in.

When they started showing it a second time I was thinking “really?” Susie as usual is the star of the show for me. Everything that comes out of her mouth continues to crack me up. The frostbite saga of the first episode had me 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I wasn't hooked by The Diplomat. I barely made it through ep. 1. I'm a big Keri Russel fan. It could've been compelling. I wouldn't compare the series to West Wing or Americans, these were extremly well written.

On French/German channel arte I've watched Israeli series Manayek. It's about two friends, one a former ex police-officer, who works for internal affairs and a corrupt police officer, who works basically for a crime syndicat. The former initially doesn't believe that the latter is dirty. It's all about the relationships between the characters and politics, that drive the decicions. Acc. to Isreali wikipedia (machine translated) the plot has it's roots in current affairs. Afaik the series airs on Australia's SBS. Haven't checked other streaming services. If you love police drama and stumble upon it: watch. It's worth while.

I loved it, too. I tried to watch the Ready Room episode on the finale and it would not play last night. Super annoying and disappointing.
Following up to say the latest Ready Room episode would not load on Paramount+ but I was able to watch it on Youtube, which is odd but I was glad it worked out.

Finished watching Sanditon. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In particular, I really liked Edward Denham's arc.

I was a bit disappointed in
the way they treated Alexander Vlahos' character. I thought his character was very interesting in Season 2, in that he seemed to be really taken by Georgiana despite wanting her fortune. But there was no gray with him this season, which made him a much less interesting character. But at least his storyline was short so my annoyance didn't last for long.

If anyone watched season 1 of Sweet Tooth on Netflix, they just dropped Season 2.

A boy who is half human and half deer survives in a post-apocalyptic world with other hybrids. Many people fear these hybrid babies are a result of a virus and hunt them. This is the story of a loner that decides to help this orphan hybrid survive the world they live in.

Watched a few things over the last week and here they are listed below:

The Expendables - Ridiculous, over the top and lots of fun! LOL Plus it’s nice to see Bruce Willis in his prime.

Saint X - MEH! New mystery on Disney. Not impressed so far and even getting through the first episode was a struggle. Partly because the duelling timelines caught me totally off guard. Maybe I will come back to it once all the episodes drop.

Goliath - Really enjoyed the first couple of seasons. But didn’t enjoy season 3 as much and by then the central character of Billy had become totally unlikeable and unwatchable. The fourth season is about big pharma and Dopesick deals with that topic and is a much better series. Not happy with how they dealt with Patty’s baby. Didn’t finish the 4th season and don’t plan too.

Ford v Ferrari - Nice little movie but didn’t end quite as neatly as I thought it would. Still an enjoyable little movie.

If you’re into British mystery series, I highly recommend it. It has all the Silent Witness and Father Brown episodes, and newer series from gritty to cozy.

I’m currently watching the old Pie in the Sky series, also Grace and Sister Boniface.

They also have Call the Midwife and some comedies.

It’s worth trying for a month and see.

- On PBS, Tom Jones which I am unwittingly compared with the original movie with Albert Finney and Susannah York. I've gotten through half of the first episode which does not compare with the tongue in cheek characterization of the original, but I will forge ahead.

- I cannot wait for the upcoming Queen Charlotte Bridgerton prequel on Netflix which examines the life of Charlotte but also that Lady Danbury as well as the Dowager Viscountess Violet. Season 3 of Bridgerton was rumored to be in trouble, necessitating a substantial rewrite with no official release date in sight.

- Season 7 of Outlander begins on STARZ as of June 16th. The first eight episodes will be released with a second eight episodes sometime in 2024 with an eighth season picked up. Since I have read all nine books by Diana Galbadon and they seem to be petering out, I'm not sure how it will go.

Glad to see AppleTV+ coming out with more new shows. My free trial ends in a couple of weeks and I’m going to cancel due to some travel, but then I’ll re-up and maybe I’ll find another free trial. I’ve had about 2 years or so, maybe a little more, of free trials, but I don’t mind paying for it when there’s so much good content.

Shonda Rimes said a few days ago they’ve finished filming and editing Bridgerton S3. So hopefully we’ll get it in the fall maybe!

Ted Lasso. Shrinking. The Morning Show. The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy. The documentaries Fathom, The Elephant Queen, and The Year Earth Changed. A Tom Hanks movie about World War II, the name escapes me.

I think Shrinking may be my favorite.

No need to steel it, plenty of free trials around. I’m on my third one. First one because I bought an Apple product, second one was a trial through Target Circle, third and current one is a Best Buy trial.

Your May 4th and 5th mentions were already listed in the post you quoted. @AliasJohnDoe posts show debuts weekly. You've jumped the gun and taken their work that they have graciously done for a long time. Those posts are easy to see here.

Your post comes across as disrespectful.

does anyone recommend/not recommend Brit Box? Abfab is leaving Hulu and I think my options are either Brit Box or buying it.
Highly recommended if you like British TV and movies. I'm unlikely to run out of things to watch on BritBox, both stuff I haven't seen but also old favourites from my childhood that I'm watching again (sometimes more than once). For me it's extremely good value. I also like that you can pay yearly instead of monthly, but understand that's not everyone's preference.

If I was trying to whittle down streaming service subscriptions whether or not to retain Britbox wouldn't even be a question.

I find the TV series of Outlander much better than the books. I confess I've been in the middle of reading book 4 (I think?) for over a year now and I just can't persuade myself to pick it up again. Nothing is happening.
