This one hurts for the foodies:

Iconic San Francisco chef and James Beard award winner Charles Phan died unexpectedly at age 62. He was a trailblazer for Asian fine dining, specifically Vietnamese cuisine. He created his business empire from humble roots as a refugee.

Cecile Richards, daughter of Anne Richards- former Governor of Texas, passed away on Jan 20, 2025, due to brain tumor (similar to what Biden’s son had). She was 67.

Cecile was the former president of Planned parenthood. She fought for women’s rights.

I met her. My friend's wife used to work for her- when they adopted twin boys, they brought the babies up to meet the NY friends. Cecile was kind enough to host. She loved babies (wanted to babysit!)- and was herself a mother of twins.

When I was in 5th grade my parents took my little sister and me to an Osmond Brothers concert. It was our very first concert experience. I don't think Wayne had the profile of some of his brothers but their voices blended together beautifully. RIP

I don’t see this posted earlier, but I noticed that former U.S. Secret Service agent Clint Hill passed away last Friday. Hill was notably known for his actions during the JFK assassination and stayed on to be part of the details that protected Jackie, LBJ, and then Vice President Spiro Agnew. I think he was the last surviving Secret Service agent from that day and had expressed a lot of guilt from “not being able to get to the car faster”. I don’t think realistically he could have done much more to prevent what ultimately happened.
