Fine. There are enough ice dance pairs around to enjoy.
What you call "new school", I call "old school" ... just a matter of perspective! And who cares?

It’s ok for people to have different opinions. Jumping on them isn’t going to change an opinion.

@IloveFS There more of your posts I read, the more convinced I am that Papadakis/Cizeron are just not a team for you.

I think that you are drawing the wrong conclusion. There are programs by any skater/team that I don't like. I am just suggesting that they (PC) might want to take their skating in a different direction. I suggest that you read my most recent post about VM's new program to MJ. You might be surprised to learn that I was very critical of that show program.

Getting back to that interview with P&C. It is interesting that Gabriella stated she would like to skate to the cello.

Having recently discovered 2 Cellos music... I think they have so many choices to select from.

Would love to see something Rhumba-like.

Not Arabian, but I thought about Bollywood for the 2019-2020 RD (hey, still musicals !) after someone mentionned it, but I don't think anyone is too keen on doing a Bollywood after D/W's.
And for a whole FD, to my own taste of course, it seems very... long.

I like the idea of a Bollywood Free Dance!

Yes, unless the four-time European champions, three-time World champions and Olympic silver medallists don't mend their ways they will never amount to anything! :drama:

Most skaters want to try different things especially during the non-Olympic years. It isn’t “mending” their ways it is growing and developing new things.

Growing, yes, but it doesn't automatically mean changing style. It also means pushing one's boundary in one's own style. I am sure that P/C will develop because they are totally invested in what they do. The final "product" might not be to everyone's taste but then I think that it doesn't matter. That's what a free dance is for. The rules are constricting enough the way they are. We should let them breathe and wow us with what they want to explore. I don't believe that they would have progressed so much in their trade, if they had not be free to explore. Art is more motivation for them than sport.

I don't want to diminish their accomplishments. They are very accomplished! I want to see something new from them!!!

Ok so cello music it is. I absolutely love cello to the point where I nearly regretted later on to have chosen piano instead of cello. In the end, I just adore both. Anyways, those guys, Break of Reality, are really interesting. They have a modern sound and work with a drummer which had a nice rhythmic texture to their quatuor. I'm just putting this composition I found dynamic enough to avoid the melancholic tune which could be associated with cello: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piA72j6fdec
They have many more pieces which can be listened to on YT here.

Same here! :) I've settled for playing the piano and listening to the cello, though I wish it was the contrary (little did I know when I was a kid).

Anyway, I think if there's anybody who can express the warmth of the cello on the ice it's Gabriella and Guillaume. I don't know if they were thinking of a solo piece. If they are, then it'll be a challenge as an orchestra helps make a piece more 'accessible'. That's why I thought MLS was such a masterpiece. I can't imagine many teams dancing on solo piano music and doing such a marvelous job with it. It's much easier to add some drums and violins, than to use the nuances of that one instrument in a way that makes sense.

So excited for the new programmes!!!!

Err, nothing by Pablo Casals? If they do go for Cello, I reckon it will likely be Elgar's concerto.

Would be nice but I think they'll steer clear off classical after MS that's why I'm not even looking at any classical piece. Guillaume did mention in the interview they'll do classical again at one point. And when they go back to it, I want Rite of Spring.

That's absolutely gorgeous! I'd never have thought of combining cello with tabla, but it works really well, and I'd love it if P/C did skate to something like this.

Woho ! https://twitter.com/Prefet63/status/984001191960031233

Gaby and Guillaume receiving the "Ordre National du mérite" = French National Order of Merit.

This is like one single grade lower than the Legion of Honour (the ultimate French recognition) without counting the grades of this order itself of course. This is huge !

Wow that's nice!!!!
Olympic medallists usually get this recognition though, it's not specific to them I think, is it?

Edit : they put the list of the athletes considered for this honour! Cool!

And that's how you learn that Gabi's middle name is Marie-Hélène! Haha!

Yes Olympic medallists usually have this. If you achieve more like Martin Fourcade did, you can get the Legion of Honour !
