Cancellation of Peggy Fleming Trophy

The Broadmoor SC is announcing the cancellation of the Peggy Fleming Trophy. After five wonderful years, the event, which stressed the incorporation of presentation and creativity with high level triple and quadruple jumps, is being retired. We would like to thank Peggy and Greg Jenkins for their sponsorship of this event and Gale and Tom Tanger for the many long hours that they spent organizing, promoting, and producing the competition.

(BTW, in other news:
"The 2023 Broadmoor Open has applied to be an NQS event.
If approved, it will take place in the Fall.
Please watch the BSC website to see if we are approved."
[As of now (but subject to change), Broadmoor Open dates are June 27 - July 1, 2023.
Per USFS: The calendar of approved NQS competitions will begin in late July and conclude the first week of October.])

Did the high-altitude effect - on numerous skaters during the recent 4Cs - dig the nails into the coffin?

It would still be grand to hold a similar competition that focuses on presentation & creativity. Just hold it at low altitude.

Not related to PFT, but update re 2023 Broadmoor Open:

"Broadmoor Skating Club has been awarded NQS event which will take place September 21-14, 2023. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND EVENT IN 2023 and Broadmoor Open will STILL take place June 25-July 1. Registration for the summer event is now open and we look forward to providing excellent training opportunity to skaters in June to prepare for the September NQS event."

2023 Broadmoor Open Fall Classic will be NQS event for Singles and Pairs for 2023-24 season.
2024 Broadmoor is not included in NQS list for 2024-25 season.

ETA (on Mar 15):
Just since yesterday (Mar 14), USFS NQS list for 2023-24 has had a name change for Broadmoor NQS event.
The NQS list originally said, "Broadmoor Open."
The change as of today (Mar 15) is to "Broadmoor Fall Classic."
To reflect the name change, I have edited my reference above to the 2023 NQS event.

Interesting. Looks like they are trying to move NQS events around among the different comps from year to year, although some of the big ones are on both years' lists. I see the Philly Summer comp (fka Liberty) is not an NQS event this year but will be next year.

Also Interesting that they moved up the Sectional finals and they are each in different weeks. I suspect they were having difficulty getting judges during the same week.
