Again, competing as neutrals means the skaters are going to have to prove they have not supported the war or anything like that. Trust that skating fans will go apesh*t on the ISU if ANY Russian skaters are allowed back in who have EVER voiced even the tiniest bit of support for the war. I don't know how hardcore swimming fans are, but there are plenty of skating fans who will mine through every single Russian skater's social media accounts (Telegram, IG, etc) from Feb 2022 forward and find anything to force the ISU into rejecting anyone who is not truly neutral. Guaranteed that Mishina/Galliamov and Stepanova/Bukin aren't going to be competing anywhere outside Russia until after the war is definitively concluded and the IOC lifts the ban entirely.

Here's the other thing... The Winter sports feds have been a LOT less open to the return of Russian athletes than the Summer sports feds. It went HARD with the winter sports feds what happened in Beijing - and they've also not forgotten Sochi, nor have they forgotten, really, that Russia's invaded Ukraine twice now within a month of the conclusion of the Winter Olympics in the last 3 Olympic cycles. We'll have to see what happens in the coming months, especially with the incoming US administration hoping to see some sort of peace agreement brokered between Ukraine & Russia, but I honestly won't be surprised if the 2026 Winter Olympics are competed under the same sort of situation as the 2024 Summer Olympics, with only a handful of neutral athletes allowed from Russia and Belarus. The IOC couldn't impose a full ban on Russia after Sochi, thanks to CAS, but CAS hasn't stopped them from the current ban due to the Olympic Truce violation, so it will remain in place as long as the war continues - or at least until after the 2026 Olympics & Paralympics are completed.
There is no Olympic truce violation. That’s not a real thing.

I know Malinin isn't the best skater, but putting him in the same bracket as Grassl is insulting to him.
Let’s not pretend malinin is superior to grassl just because malinin is America number one and is paying big big bucks for Bourne choreo

Maiia on her prospects as a coach (and eventually skater):

Maya Khromykh said that coaching helped her rethink figure skating.
Khromykh is 18 years old and a prize winner of the International Grand Prix series. The skater is missing the current season due to back problems and is currently training a group of children aged 4-6.
"I love coaching incredibly. For me, figure skating has probably opened up a different side of me in this regard, I have rethought a lot. I experience some incredible feelings when I see some kind of result in my students, athletes, little children and adults.
Who is more difficult? With children, it is probably more difficult, because they are still children, they sometimes get distracted a little, but we found contact. I treat them like my younger sisters. They call me by my first name and patronymic," Khromykh said.
On Friday, the figure skater performed in Irina Slutskaya's show at the grand opening of the VDNKh skating rink.
"There is always some excitement before the show. For me, this show is special now, because I am not performing this season. For me, this is a chance to go out on the ice, skate for my own pleasure and please the audience. Right now, I am training a little myself, because I am still continuing to treat my back.
Do I still think about continuing my career? Yes,” Khromykh noted.

Boys did very well esp. Lev Lazarev, that was amazing skate.
Girls:
Margo skated on slow speed, without 3As but with three quads (4T was UR I think). Considering she is recovering from injury it was amazing, she needed to boost morale after last competition.
Liza Andreeva was fantastic.
Alena Prineva great 4T, 4Lz still not there, the rest was good.
Lidia Pleskacheva had some rough jumps
Alisik had problems with 4Lz too, first doubled, second fall, but the rest was good. She would have still won JGPF.
Kosty had very rough skate, there they had to lower her difficulty for this event, still she landed two quads.

Pairs lacked, which was the same the last year, but Sherbinina/Petrov were great.

As for ice dance, I don't understand dance much.

Official live streams should be on Channel 1 website and Rutube, not sure about geoblock

In the meantime, Channel 1 also started an online team competition. They divided all the skaters into teams based on the draws and results, named the teams after some endangered or rare Russian animals, and the teams chose captains and created their social media channels on Telegram. Teams are now expected to complete online tasks such as team presentations, recording the longest jump combination, recording the most valuable combination, etc.
The rules are too complicated and there are too many steps, but for the fans it may be nice to keep following the skaters between competitions.

Tamara Moskvina is an absolute treasure.
And, she and Mishin just keep going. I thought she'd retire after her husband died, but nope. Then after the last Olympics. Nope. I'd say she wants one more OGM winning team in Mish/Gal, but I don't know if she'd quit then. I think she just loves what she does just like Mishin does. And, I say more power to her. I love seeing her standing between her two minions with her head barely above the top of the boards .

BTW the additional olympic qualification will take place not in Nebelhorn but in China. So, in that eventual case Russians would be admitted this is relatively good for them.

Apparently there is a new tv show about them. The 1st episode is supposed to be today (think I will be geoblocked out of it)
I guess the most interesting quotes will be in Russian media within the next few hours.

And the documentary should be available on Vk, but don’t know about geoblock
