Amber's injury sounds like the stuff of nightmares. The article gives us some insight into what Amber has been through since the accident, and it appears that it has been a grueling trek. So I truly wish her a complete recovery followed by a triple axel triumph. :kickass:

Giving The Realness a bump up! 🍭💕

She can skate that short program until she retires and I’ll be a happy camper. I have a feeling a triple axle will come tonight. Fully rotated

BWAHHHHH

I watched in bed last night and I’ve never seen her look better. As I mentioned in other threads I have not been having a great month. I felt like I wanted to get out of bed and get on my phone and Instagram her and come on here and leave a post but I just was not feeling well. All of her jumps were sublime, her dress was gorgeous and I can’t believe how fast she was going. She has a combination of grace and speed which is so hard to find. I can’t believe We are calling her the US silver medalist. I’m laying here this morning with coffee still in a bit of shock!!

Out figure skater Amber Glenn tops the Sports Equality LGBTQ sports weekly wrap-up

This is the first time since 2008 that the selected women’s world team did not follow nationals results for age-eligible skaters in a non-Olympic year. Katrina Hacker was bypassed in favor of 2006 World champion Kimmie Meissner in 2008.

Listed to the TSL recap of nationals and they are strongly recommending that Amber switch coaches. I get where they are coming from but I think a huge part of ambers success is her happiness and comfort with her supportive training environment. Thoughts?

Comfort in your training environment is obviously very important to success.

I don’t think Amber’s current coaches are necessarily the best (though they’re fine), but with an eye to making the Olympic team I think it’s too late to make a switch even were she so inclined. A year out is too late to make such a big change, even if it was to a theoretically better coach.

just tuned in

Do you think outsports made it sound like the reason Amber was not chosen was because of her LGBTQ-ness? I hope outsports realizes that she was basically in a tie with Karen, and BOW, etc.

Someone else mentioned in this thread or the US ladies thread that Amber doesn’t have the right coaches to politic for her. It’s a shame that you even need to do that.

She’s in a happy bubble with her bestie Ashley and Tim and she seems genuinely happy there.

Although judges especially last year came down harder on Ashley and Tim on a carrot in the short program that I did not see and complained about. And Johnny and Tara also said they did not see the 🥕

It is weird that it’s been nearly 15 years since USFSA did not send the skaters to worlds in which they medaled for a non-Olympic year. I’ve completely forgotten about Katrina hacker but I remember back then she deserved a chance but I understand sending Kimmie as she was world champion, Karen is not.

Neither one of them are consistent skaters and as others have mentioned their body of work is similar if we’re going to go tit for tat but since Amber is trying the tricks and landing them she should be awarded. As if anyone’s going to place in the top five anymore at any worlds or any Olympics they will need at least one big trick. Amber should be punching her ticket if you ask me

Polina Edmunds' latest podcast interview (~30 mins. on Feb. 2, 2021):
Around the 20-minute mark: "... I want Karen and Bradie to go [to Worlds if it happens] and skate the absolute best they can and get those [3] spots, and I do think that USFS made a good decision sending them... I understand the choice since I don't have nearly as much experience as those two do..."

She said she will continue to train (as the Worlds alternate) and do some virtual competitions, plans to keep her FS music ("build a lot on it... add a lot more flair") and is searching for new SP music.

Looks like Misha Ge released Amber’s SP music. Circles.

Given that skaters tend to make a big deal about these announcements these days, I don’t think it’s really right for him to share this. Hopefully she gave him permission. Feels like he tries to make it all about him. Like last year I felt he was patting himself on the back instead of giving credit to Amber. Also, I wish she’d used a different choreographer this year. Oh well.

Amber posted the news with Misha today (re-posting from the U.S. Ladies thread):

Well it sounds on par with all the figure skating music that’s been going around the past two years. Even the beginning of it sounds like Alexa and Brandon’s music.

But having listened to it all at YouTube I do like it.

Reading the comments on YouTube about three years ago someone said Angela Wang skated to this music already

WHAT PRIDE MONTH MEANS TO ME AS AN OUT ATHLETE
By Amber Glenn (June 11, 2021)
https://www.teamusa.org/News/2021/J...hat-Pride-Month-Means-To-Me-As-An-Out-Athlete
Excerpt:
For me, the message I hope to share as an out athlete is that you can accomplish anything in life — and in sport — no matter your sexuality or what gender you identify with. No matter what pronoun you use, you should be able to go after whatever it is that you’re passionate about. It makes me proud knowing that I can help someone realize that it’s okay to be you. Don’t hide your true self!

Good for Amber. I REALLY hope she makes the Olympics. I've liked her skating for five years and I'm so glad she's finally starting to get it together. She's pretty much my favorite US skater. After her, I hope to see Alysa there too. The third spot probably to Bradie since she's such a hard worker and I like her chill approach.

I agree with every word you said in your post. Including the three skaters for the Olympics. Although Karen will be in the mix as well. And Mariah. But those are my top three. All the people coming out in the past day. Kaitlyn and my boy Paul Poirier. I feel like having a gay pride party in my living room tonight lol

Two amateur vloggers with no coaching or elite competitive skating experience who know everything about the sport? Yes, I'd be following their advice. #NOT.
