My immense love for Kwan and respect for Cohen will not allow me to either confirm or deny this statement. I will say both Kwan and Cohen had more of a natural flair for musicality. Satoko started off as a rather introverted performer but she was able to develop not only her artistry but her ability to project and emote, which is really hard to do.

Satoko is by far my favorite artist in the field today. She's probably #3 on my all-time favorites list at this point (behind Kwan and Asada). I just love her. So happy to see her looking healthy and strong this season.

Cosign all of this except instead of Kwan, for me it's Cohen. But what I wouldn't give for Sasha to have had half of Satoko's consistency. I'm going to the GPF and I REALLY want to see Satoko live so I am THRILLED that she was able to win Skate America and bring herself that much closer to qualifying. Hoping she can manage at least a silver at NHK and then onward and upward!!

I agree about Sasha and I loved her nerve. She may have landed on her backside but she went for it. And she was so very elegant. Man to have Kwan, Cohen and Satoko (and Asada) on the ice together. Awesome.

Agree. Let's hope she regroups in time for her Nationals. I fear the scoring on her jumps affected her PC marks which
I am sorry to say imo were way to low for what she did on the ice.

Whaaaat!? I would be surprised, but then again not, she knows she needs every point she can get. As long as her lutz is pre-rotated though, the triple axel won't save her.

She said some time ago she was working on a 3 axel. As you say, she knows she'll have to have it to continue to be competitive. But I think this is the first report we've heard on how it's going.

Dear friends: as I reflect on this moment of sheer joy today I want to say more: after Satoko’s lesson we walked past Marin getting ready, Satoko whispered ‘Its Marin’s Birthday today” so we delightfully conspired to surprise her with our heartfelt singing of Happy Birthday. Of course many of life’s greatest moments are not caught on camera but I can tell you I watched in awe as two sweet souls hugged and laughed: Satoko with absolute delight in Marin being surprised and remembered and Marin so grateful and touched. Both were giddy with pleasure. Then Nam, Michelle and Chloe on their session were watching and came in to add to the moment. So impromptu, so pure...such a great representation of the true heart of skaters. Kindness and the greatness of humanity really exists!
