I know her win isn't exactly a surprise, but wow, what a skate!

Anywhere you draw the age line there will be people just on the wrong side of it.Tell me again how the sport is better by being Junior next season instead of being in Milan. This is no 15 year old she's just months away from turning 17.
No senior is going to beat that score in Boston. Amazing.Holy crap. Is the world record going to be set in juniors? It deserves a WR score.
This argument is so old and tiresome. Twenty years old and tiresome. Yawn.Tell me again how the sport is better by being Junior next season instead of being in Milan. This is no 15 year old she's just months away from turning 17.
Mao Asada, meet Mao ShimadaAnywhere you draw the age line there will be people just on the wrong side of it.

My husband walked in just in time to see this -- I told him that it's much better to have Hamada happy about your skate than upset.Coach shots!![]()

I'd be OK with that if the skater only missed the cutoff by a bit so they'd still have had their 17th birthday before Euros/4CCs/Olympics/Worlds.I have wondered if perhaps there should be an exception for age ineligible skaters who medal for 3 consecutive years at Junior Worlds and/or Jr. GP Final. Just move 'em up.
I think that would just mean more drugged Russians moving up earlyI have wondered if perhaps there should be an exception for age ineligible skaters who medal for 3 consecutive years at Junior Worlds and/or Jr. GP Final. Just move 'em up.
The ISU had a panic attack because of the Russian girls and moved it up too high 16 should have been the age set and now we know whoever wins the Olympics most likely is not even the best skater in the world let alone in her own country.Anywhere you draw the age line there will be people just on the wrong side of it.
Yeah, that would totally be the big danger of such a policy.I think that would just mean more drugged Russians moving up early
Some people claimed the same with the Russian juniors under the previous age limit. The ISU had a panic attack because of the Russian girls and moved it up too high 16 should have been the age set and now we know whoever wins the Olympics most likely is not even the best skater in the world let alone in her own country.
Again, this is the same old story we've been hearing for decades now. It was Mao Asada & Yuna Kim twenty years ago, it was the Russian A-team in 2018. If she is that good, she will be an Olympic medalist in 2030 - just like Asada, Kim, Shcherbakova & Trusova before her...The ISU had a panic attack because of the Russian girls and moved it up too high 16 should have been the age set and now we know whoever wins the Olympics most likely is not even the best skater in the world let alone in her own country.
Yeah but those women competed at the Olympics in their prime Mao has to wait until she's in her 20's before she's eligible for the Olympics.Again, this is the same old story we've been hearing for decades now.
