Skaters in the ISP: Sonja Hilmer, Michelle Lee, Maryn Pierce, Hannah Herrera, Mia Kalin and Kai Kovar in Senior; Elyce Lin-Gracey, Logan Higase-Chen, Lilah Gibson in Junior (ETA that pair skater Naomi Williams is competing singles here).

Hanns/Neudecker are listed for Senior Pairs FS only (debuting their Dracula-themed program).
India's Tara Prasad is also listed in Senior, as well as Courtney Hicks who is returning to competition after only skating in the Peggy Fleming Trophy last summer.

Broadmoor Senior Women SP protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/32303/SEGM032.html
Top 6:
Mia Kalin 63.72 - landed 3A< (new jump for her in comp. this season), 3Lz & 3F+3T
Sonja Hilmer 59.13 - landed 3T+3T & all level 4s in debut of her SP to The Matrix
Courtney Hicks 58.90 - had no negative GOEs in her return :) - music is "Daylight" by David Kushner
Maryn Pierce 57.86 - all level 4 spins
Hannah Herrera 53.51 - landed 3F+3T
Tara Prasad (India) 51.32

@love skating had asked about the 3 keypoints in the leveled step sequences that are new in the U.S. protocols this season - I believe the order of the keypoints to be called is Rotation, Body & Combination of difficult turns.

Kalin has shared a clip of her 4S (another new jump in comp. this season) that she landed in practice: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CuBRKocPDvp/

First competition of the season and first competition out of retirement! It went extremely well and I hit all my goals that I had set. Thanks to Josh and @jomosk8 [choreographer Jordan Moeller] and @gosanjaygo_03 [choreographer Sonja] for helping me make it through! Next up is Glacier Falls in July! Videos to follow shortly :)

Thanks @danafan, you beat me to posting the link! ;) Skate Canada Team NextGen's Alec Guinzboug and David Shteyngart both won their respective SP events yesterday.
Senior Men SP protocols (Alec landed 3A, 3Lz, & 3F+3T with -1.41 GOE): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/33600/SEGM005.html
Junior Men SP protocols (3F+3T, 2A, 3Lz): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/33600/SEGM006.html
Triple (or double) Lutz is the ISU Junior required SP solo jump in 2023-24.

Guinzbourg had a rougher time today and Jack Dushenski won the FS (separate event, scores are not combined with SP here) - link to protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/33600/SEGM014.html

ETA link to Junior Men's FS protocols (top 2 were Canadians 2 Davids - Shteyngart and Bondar): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/33600/SEGM015.html

===

Sonja Hilmer won the Jenkins Trophy at this year's Broadmoor Open for "the outstanding FS by a Senior competitor") - her post & photos: https://www.instagram.com/p/CuF94Pfrl4h/

Courtney Hicks shared a clip of the beginning of her FS (Florence+The Machine medley): https://www.instagram.com/reel/CuFUmvwJdtM/
The opening to my Freeskate! The program opens with "Seven Devils" (it's literally just the very beginning) and then "Heaven is Here". I also use "Choreomania" and "Cassandra" but I'll put those parts up later! All choreographed impressively by @gosanjaygo_03 [Sonja]!

Broadmoor Open Senior Men's event was won by Kai Kovar (landed 3A in SP but fell twice on it in FS): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/32303/CAT027SEG039.html

Braodmoor Open Junior Women top 2 were Elyce Lin-Gracey & Logan Higase-Chen - combined final standings:
https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/32303/CAT028SEG041.html
Elyce's photos (she mentions Tammy Gambill & Damon Allen among her her team of coaches in Colorado Springs so apparently has relocated from California): https://www.instagram.com/p/CuGIFAXLP14/

I didn’t notice until yesterday when I found the schedule for Dallas Classic that it stretches into Monday. My sister is very bummed that she won’t be able to go to the Jr and Sr free dances. It’s always been on a Sunday in prior years.

The schedule shows 9 senior teams and 17 junior teams registered (no names yet) so it should be a great event!

I think those higher scores during the early years of this event sure improved its popularity:rofl:. Anyway, excellent! Looking forward to some competition, even if we don't get to see it.

Skate Milwaukee is underway today (July 5-9) - results page: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/33585/index.asp
ETA: Samuel Mindra is the only Senior man listed; Maryn Pierce & Alexa Gasparotto are the 2 Senior women currently in the ISP with Finley Hawk, Alex Evans & Maxine Marie Bautista (did not compete last season, IIRC) also listed.
Skate Canada skaters entered include Caitlyn Kukulowicz in Senior; along with Rio Morita, Grayson Long (both are entered in NextGen competition simulation) and Natasha Hewitt in Junior.

U.S. Junior Team Cup starting orders are posted for tomorrow's SP: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/nonqual_results/2023/33637/index.html

Pay-per-view livestream info: https://www.chicagostarproductions.com/live-streaming

Would people like a separate competition thread for the Junior Team Cup? (I plan to watch online and post some notes, though not necessaily "live" PBP.)

Seems like a separate thread would be good since this is the competition to determine JGP assignments for our single skaters.

I seem to recall that the pairs and ice dance competitions for JGP assignments are later this month, correct?

OK, I will create a thread for the U.S. Junior Team Cup and any Skate Milwaukee competition notes can go in here.

AFAIK these disciplines are handled differently than for JGP singles. Dallas Classic results could be a factor for the junior ice dance assignments but there are so few junior pairs that summer monitoring of new teams may also play a part (Glacier Falls is the first NQS for pairs -- refer to post #1 of this thread).

Yesterday Cayla Smith (JGP Final pairs bronze medalist) won Skate Milwaukee Novice A SP, landing 3S, 3T+2T & 2A cleanly - she is warming up now, along with Skylar Lautowa-Peguero (Julia Lautowa's daughter; had the highest Juvenile Girls NQS score last season) who attempted 3Lz+3T< in her SP.

ETA: Skylar landed everything she tried today - 7 triples!! 107.34 in FS :), 147.50 total.

Jordan Cowan filmed Skylar's SP exhibition back in May: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSFS5X6agj0

I just watched Emilia Nemirovsky and I was very impressed with her triples. They have lots of height and are clean! I am kind of surprised she’s not skating Junior or doing the Junior Team Cup. She looks old enough (though maybe she’s not). She had 2 triple lutzes, a triple flip and 2 triple loops in her Novice long. I’m pretty sure I saw triple sal too, I had to answer a phone call and missed a bit so I missed a few jumps but I thought she was very strong!

Agreed @sk8nlizard! :) Nice height and good speed/flow out of her jumps when landed well! She skated to Love Story (instrumental version with piano) - jumps were 3Lz+2T, 3F, 3Lo fall, 3S+2T, 3Lo to 2A I think, 2A, 3Lz step out. 97.23 in FS, 140.64 total for 1st place in Novice Group B.
Emilia Nemirovsky was 4th in Novice at Midwestern Sectionals last season and qualified the National Development Team.

@TanithandBenFan, I was told Samuel Mindra's new SP is a modern arrrangement of an Ukrainian folk song and that the goal in Milwaukee was to get some early feedback on the program before his next comp. at Glacier Falls.

@TanithandBenFan, Samuel Mindra's FS is a medley of 3 songs used in the Guardians of the Galaxy films -- "The Chain" / "Come and Get Your Love" / "Since You've Been Gone" -- and I thought Samuel emoted especially well to the middle song. :) I'm really looking forward to seeing this program develop through the season!

The Orange Blossom Open (Jul 13-15) will have a free livestream on this YouTube channel:

I hope they’ll have some junior or senior ice dance!

ETA: No Jr or Sr dance on the schedule since I guess most teams are in Dallas if they’re competing this weekend.
I haven't been able to find a schedule but am hoping to work around my other obligations tomorrow. If you find a schedule could you please post a link?

Link to the Orange Blossom Open results page (IJS event start times in Eastern time should appear at the bottom once the starting orders are posted): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2023/32247/index.asp

Dallas Classic schedule in EMS now lists 8 Senior teams and 15 Junior teams (scheduled to compete on Sunday, July 16 & Monday the 17th). Adrienne Carhart posted an Instagram story asking who would be in Dallas so I assume that means she and "Sasha" Kolosovskyi (AZE) could make their season debut in Plano, Texas, along with sisters Helena (with Horovyi in Junior) and Marian (with Bledsoe in Intermediate).
