A good crop of Junior women too - 47 entries.

Eeeeeeek! The debut of Proft & Nadeau. I can't wait!
Maybe. 🤞🤞🤞 This is a summer competition, I'll believe it when I see them in the warm up.

Celestino hasn't competed since CS Warsaw Cup in November 2021 - looking forward to seeing him!

ETA:

Celestino kept his 2021-22 SP to "In This Shirt" by The Irrepressibles - 3T+3T nice flow, easy looking 2A (he's been working on the 3A), 3Lo fell out.

Junior Women SP group 2 (24; Friday in Rink 1): https://resultats.patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OD_51.pdf
Includes NextGen's Abbie Baltzer, Justine Miclette (assigned to JGP #3 in Riga...), Fiona Bombardier & Kara Yun; plus Fée Ann Landry, Katherine Karon, Aleksa Volkova (daughter of Martine Dagenais and Moscow-based coach Alexander Volkov)
Volkova is listed to skate 1st & Baltzer last in the 2nd group that's warming up now (though I only see 5 skaters): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8cqpoy

ETA: Volkova fell out of her 3Lz (so no combo), landed 3Lo & 2A.

ETA #2: Buteau is the one who WD from this group.

Aleksa Volkova just skated in Jr Women. She fell on her 3lz, and had an awkward landing on her 3lo. 2a was landed successfully, but didn't have a ton of flow.

Her spin positions were very nice. I wish she would extend her free leg more and point her toes during footwork.

(It probably sounds like I'm being picky, but that's only because her skills look strong enough that I think she is capable of doing more.)

ETA: Score was 48.78

Mia Clarke had nice spring into her 3lo, but couldn't hold onto the landing. Her 3s2t and 2a were nice. Awkward fall during the step sequence, but a very pleasant program overall. Score 41.27.

Abbie Baltzer landed 3lo (a bit tight on the landing), 3lz fall, 2a. Her spins were very nice. The cartwheel transition out of the layback spin is interesting, but I'm not sure it really suits the music.

Tough skate for Abbie Baltzer. :( Nicely polished skater, but jump landings are still just a little short, hopefully will improve as she matures and gets stronger. Bearded Brycie. :smokin:

Fée-Ann Landry skated next. She landed a HUGE 2a, nice 3lo, and 3lz(hand down)2t.

ETA: She scored 57.64, and looked absolutely stunned at her score :)
Very nice skate for Fée Ann Landry. 👏 Just a little hand down on the 3Lutz combo, but nice big 2A and 3loop.
Just checked and Landry was 4th in the SP (50.05) at the NextGen comp., landing 2A, 3Lo & 3F(! edge warning)+2T with -1 GOE.
I was impressed by her first 2 jumps as well!

Very nice skate for Justine Miclette! :cheer2: Everything landed successfully (and very strong), including 3f3t.

(Side note - is the required jump in junior a flip or a lutz this year? I swear half of them have looked like lutzes and half like flips.)

ETA: I'm dumb. It's the loop. :shuffle: This is what happens when I try to watch skating and work at the same time.

I think the required jump is the loop?

Isn't it always a solo jump...? Pretty sure it's the loop.

LOL I was wondering why I wasn't seeing Miclette then I remembered when I cast dailymotion to my smart TV it always goes back to the beginning (or at least 90 minutes or so) of the stream. I had to fast forward LOL glad I didn't miss her.

Fiona Bombardier has oodles of natural talent, but her jump technique needs refining. She would do well with someone like Ravi Walia who knows a thing or 2 about reining in a strong, but very wild skater.
