In 2010 Jennifer was elected councillor in ward 8 in Barrie Ontario, before stepping down after 2 years for health reasons. She had got married in 2002, and eight years later gave birth to a girl.
Really? Tell them to get bent! You're allowed to ask after the well being of a former skater!!LMAO..I tried asking about Robinson on this forum once before and got an earful from a certain poster.
Robinson took a lot of slack because she skated so slow but she had some really nice qualities to her skating. Her 2000 Worlds long program, on a night full of disaster skates and otherwise lousy programs outside the top 5, was really nice, as was her 2002 Worlds long (7 triples, not necessarily all clean but that was her strongest program). IIRC she was a little bitter at 2003 Worlds after she dropped so far down after the QR (2nd place in her group) and then even with decent skates in 2004, she wasn't a threat for the top 10 and was only named to the team after Cynthia Phaneuf's team elected that she go to Junior Worlds instead.
But considering the shortcomings to her skating technique, finishing in the top 10 at Worlds three times and getting a top 10 placement with solid skates in SLC was a great accomplishment.
^ I was always pulling for Jen Robinson. So glad that she had the opportunity to skate in SOI. We enjoyed her very much in the US tour (especially for her program "Show-Off" from "The Drowsy Chaperone").
Jennifer was a beautiful skater and prob.the last woman of old style Cdn female skaters. If you think the jump is not going to work perfect you turned it into a beautiful single . With the way points were awarded at the time maybe it was the smartest thing to do.When Rochette first came into prominence she was popping a lot as well but then changed over to going for the rotations even if she ended up on her butt. This definitely was the time when we started producing en masse good jumpers.I do have a soft spot for Top Ten Jen! Her free skate at the 2000 World Championships was a wonderful moment for Robinson and her team.
