Hmmmmm... Interesting results. We'll have to see how the FS goes tomorrow. Maybe Shin/Nagy get a late fall international but only having a 2tw isn't going to score anywhere close to 58 internationally.

I'm shocked by these scores but it's only the short so....
Why? Both Shin/Nagy and Fredette/Siianytsia are new teams - not every team is going to score 60+ right away. Fitzpatrick/Bearinger are in the general range they usually score. The only really surprising score, to me, is Cooke/Kennedy - that may be the highest they've ever scored in the SP. ;)

On the flip side, they got the triple throw and sbs jumps accomplished. The twist is such a dangerous element, I'm good with a 2 twist in a first season together. They definitely need to up the death spiral level though. 🤷‍♂️

The designated DS for the SP is a back outside and it's giving even some of the experienced senior teams trouble from what I've seen so far this season.

I don't disagree that it's good they got the throw triple & SBS 3Ts done - that's a positive sign. I just don't see any reason to push them (or Fredette/Siianytsia) out to any internationals before Nationals based on these scores and the protocols today. Which is a little disappointing since I was hoping they'd both do better, but I have to temper that and remind myself that they're both really new teams who haven't been together more than 5 months.

Well it's not like any of our US Pairs are setting some amazing standard so far. Some international experience and building some ISU points and maybe getting minimums for something like 4CC could be a goal if they do a late fall/early winter comp, plus another comp under the belt before the boilermaker that is always Nationals. 🤷‍♂️

Ehhhhh... Maybe? They'll have the Pairs Final, so I suppose Golden Spin could be an option for both teams. I do wish there was some fancam videos (I haven't really gone looking but nothing's popped up on my Xwitter) so we could see how both teams look. FredSiia had the 2nd highest PCS, but nothing amazing or spectacular - but they also did land their SBS 3S and have a 3tw. Of course, Trudy Oltmanns has no political pull with USFS, and we know that Balasz & Audrey have some mighty powerful players in their corner.

Shin/Nagy have a decent score - 157.59 - not a barn-burner but probably enough to get them to Golden Spin in December for the CTES mins and to get a SB.
Serious answer: I think it's a pretty good starting place. They clearly have a lot of places to improve, but also Audrey is very new to pairs still. To have what appears to be at least one reliable throw and good lifts is good. They look like they have a lot they can build on. It is now their job to do just that.

Shin/Nagy -
2tw - neg .26 GOE
1s+1a+1a - neg .28 GOE
3t - pos .06 GOE
throw 3lo - neg .36 GOE
two lifts were L4 with over 1 pos GOE - that's promising
throw 3s - +1.01 GEO - very promising
last lift was L3 with slightly less than .5 pos GOE - work to be done, but not too shabby
and they missed their Pairs combo spin completely

I agree, it's a good start - would have been 160+ had they not missed the spin. It's also very promising that they hit their SBS 3Ts both in the SP and FS.

Fredette/Siianytsia - basically showed up and skated around - they got credit for their choreo seq, death spiral and pairs combo Base level spin. I wonder if there was some sort of injury that happened in the SP. Regardless, they're now qualified for the Pairs Final and have 6 weeks to get ready.

Cooke/Kennedy - doubles for the twist and both throws; attempted SBS 2a+1a and 3t - the seq looks like it probably was tightly landed based on .09 pos GOE; 3t - turn out or hand down based on neg 1.32 GOE. Nothing they're doing is getting more than .64 pos GOE, which says their quality isn't great, just satisfactory.

Fitzpatrick/Bearinger - attempting triples for twist & throws but not well - fell on both throws, neg .85 GOE on the twist. Also a fall on the SBS 2a+combo; and only SBS 2s completed. Everything else... getting .50 and .51 pos GOE on two lifts; best element was the choreo seq with .86 pos GOE. So, basically, like CooKen - quality isn't great, just satisfactory for the stuff they do complete.

Can the USFS add Jarmoc/Witkowski to the ISP already? I know, they haven't scored 125 yet, but neither had McDanold/Felberbaum when they were added and they acquitted themselves very well at their JGP. I think JarWit would also do well at a Jr B Int'l and could probably earn the CTES mins for Jr Worlds.

The tentative schedules are up for each Sectional:

Nov 14-17 Eastern Sectional and Pairs Final - https://www.usfigureskating.org/sit...a-files/2025 East & Pairs by day schedule.pdf

Nov 13-16 Pacific Coast Sectional - https://www.usfigureskating.org/sites/default/files/media-files/2025 PC by day schedule.pdf

Nov 20-23 Midwestern Sectional and Dance Final - https://www.usfigureskating.org/sit...a-files/2025 Mids & Dance by day schedule.pdf

My sister is so disappointed the Dance Final events are all on weekdays. She was so excited when Plano was announced as the host.

Which senior dance teams are likely to compete in Midwestern? Chen/Morozov, F/D? Is N/M getting a bye? For jr dance, it will be the Mullens, A/V, and I/C as frontrunners?

NesMark have a bye - 3 internationals, WolfTsar have a bye as JGPF qualifiers. FlorDes & MorChen are the only teams who've been sent out to Challengers who don't have a bye.

Sorry to hear that. :( These schedules usually are geared around the skaters and not the spectators, unfortunately.

I'll post the projected Senior/Junior singles qualifiers for each Sectional by later today (eta: or on Monday).

BTW, I never posted my projected Senior/Junior Women's qualifiers for the 3 Sectionals because it was challenging to figure out who had byes to Sectionals as well as which/how many skaters are withdrawing :( due to injury.

I will start a separate thread for the 3 U.S. Sectionals and the Pairs/Dance Finals in the near future.

Sept. 11 post re. Pasadena Open NQS:
Keira Hilbelink WD due to ankle injury.
Keira’s left foot/lower leg has been in a boot in the Instagram posts/stories I’ve seen lately - this one is dated Oct. 22: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBcVeXPxOlY/

Her training group Ten80 posted a reel of their Pacific Coast Sectional qualifiers 3 days ago and Keira’s older sisters, Tia (Senior) and Maile (Junior), are included but not her so hopefully she will heal fully & well and come back strong next season:
