Thanks for Erin's coach ID!

I rewound the livestream - Logan Higase-Chen landed 3Lz+3T, 3Lz, 2S, 2A, 3F, 3Lz+2A+2T & 3Lo+2T (wearing the same black, upper back/shoulder brace that she had on yesterday). FS music is Los Moros by Gino D’Auri & Asturias: Electro Remix by Angie Violinist, Isaac Albéniz - both of her programs this season were choreographed by Lori Nichol.

Logan had a bad Junior SP 2 years ago and had to make a great comeback to qualify for 2023 Nationals in San Jose (10th in SP, 1st in FS, 2nd overall at Mids): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2022/32047/CAT004SEG021.html

Current top 2:
1 Logan Higase-Chen, Broadmoor SC 7 54.24 1 119.11 173.35
2 Erin Biederman, Detroit SC 8 52.68 2 102.36 155.04

Final group after the ice resurfacing:

13 Michelle Lee, Broadmoor SC 3 56.79
14 Alina Bonillo, DuPage FSC 4 56.26
15 Wren Warne-Jacobsen, Go4Gold Shakopee Skating Academy 2 58.34
16 Alexa Gasparotto, Arctic FSC 1 59.01
17 Brooke Gewalt, Wagon Wheel FSC 5 55.62
18 Sonja Hilmer, Centennial SC 6 54.93

Morgan Bell, Mariah's older sister who coaches in the Dallas area, is with Michelle Lee again today (Michelle's coaches are in China & Warsaw this week). Michelle skated to Adele's "Love in the Dark" (FS music last season).

ETA: 103.40 in FS, 160.19 2nd to Logan.

Oooo - I like this dress Alexa Gasparotto is wearing!

ETA - not so much in motion - the drape-y sections are too much, but at a slower pace or standing still, it's beautiful.

ETA2 - costume change! That explains the drape-y sections - and to be honest, she should just do away with the costume change and go with the 2nd half version for the whole program.

Alexa Gasparotto - think (most?) of her FS music selections were by Joseph William Morgan? She has improved the control of her BIG jumps - credit goes to Denise Myers, Jeremy Allen & Tommy Steenberg, I assume? Very good performance!

ETA: 111.16 FS, 170.17 3rd behind Logan

I didn't check all of the pieces, but the first part Shazam said it was the Good Wife TV score by David Buckley.

Brooke’s jumps: 3T+2A, 3F step out, 3Lo turn out, 3T+2T, 3S+2T, lovely Ina with the music, 3S step, 2A.

This happens to be one of my favorite Barbra Streisand power ballads and so I really enjoyed watching that!

114.34 FS, 169.96 in 4th.

Sonja Hilmer changed her FS (Argylle OST) after Glacier Falls NQS, IIRC, to:

Earth Melodies by Ekaterina Shelehova
Forest Dance by Filip Lackovic
Conjuring Storms by Ekaterina Shelehova
Savage Daughter by Ekaterina Shelehova
If I Had A Heart by Ekaterina Shelehova

As listed in her ISU bio: https://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00114471.htm

Too many messy landings for Brooke to pull ahead of Alexa overall. But, if Isabeau WDs from Nats, she may make it to Nats yet.

Several two-footed landings for Sonja. Not sure it will be enough to pull into 2nd or 3rd.

Sonja’s jumps: 3F+2T, 3F 2fted, 3Lo, 3T, CCW to CW spin, 2A, her trademark 3S to reverse 2S held on! 3Lo+2A+2T - hope this is enough to make top 2!!

ETA: OK, 3rd is fair - 116.74 FS, 171.67

So Sonja is the at-large qualifier and Alexa 1st alternate if any byed skaters WD.

Out of curiosity, if a skater qualifying through Sectionals WDs, do they take the next skater from that Sectional, or go to the next highest scores list? (But I hope no one has to WD!)

Zenith Chen just finished skating in the other rink - want to rewind and watch him. Think he skated to a famous Beethoven(?) (corrected) Tchaikovsky piano concerto? He's currently in 1st with 4 to go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc369URFOFc

Out of curiosity, if a skater qualifying through Sectionals WDs, do they take the next skater from that Sectional, or go to the next highest scores list? (But I hope no one has to WD!)

For Seniors, it's the next highest scores nationwide from Sectionals:

2520 Alternates
2521 For the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, alternates are designated as follows:
A. For senior events:
1. Singles skaters who have met the minimum TES, in the order of their scores, nationwide, from their respective
sectional singles final. In the case of a tie, it will be broken by the free skate score.
2. Pairs and dance teams who have met the minimum TES, in the order of their scores at the U.S. Pairs and U.S. Ice
Dance Final.

B. For junior events:
1 Singles skaters placing fifth and sixth in junior in their sectional singles final will be designated as first and second
alternate for their section to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
2 Singles skaters placing third and fourth in novice in their sectional singles final will be designated as first and
second alternate for their section to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
3 Pairs and dance teams placing 13th and 14th at the U.S. Pairs Final and U.S. Ice Dance Final will be designated as
first and second alternate to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Into 1st! Alina Bonillo, DuPage FSC 4 56.26 1 121.03 177.29

Wren Warne-Jacobsen's FS music (choreo. by Caryn Kadavy): https://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00114477.htm
Caucasian Sketches, Suite No. 1, Op. 10 II. In the Village by Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov
King of Kings – Salome’s Dance by Miklós Rózsa

I liked both of Wren Warne-Jacobsen programs. One of the few this year where the choreography feels like a smooth, single thought - not a patchwork of elements. She had a better time in the SP but still, this skater is really nice to watch.

I loved Sonja Hilmer's programs, too, and I'm glad that this unique skater will be at nationals. She had a great reaction in the K&C when she saw her scores.

Has anybody seen a preliminary color schedule for Wichita?
Not yet - the official entries were just published today (ETA - now posted in the 4 U.S. news thread for each discipline in GSD) and I'm sure the link to the colored/detailed schedule by day will be posted in this GSD thread as soon as the initial version is published online: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...-allen-tx-in-2024.111738/page-12#post-6694049

7 hours left to watch the Mids Senior Men & Women FS before the replays are deleted on Peacock. Not surprisingly, the original audio in Brooke Gewalt's FS video to Barbra Streisand's "A Piece of Sky" has been replaced by icky elevator music :( (video #421 in the Mids playlist): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-CheZaoFWwRgvaVwysTiW6vVpvCs4i6X
