I'm only half paying attention to this FD from Alis/Roberts but we've got our first ID costume change of the season. She was in a white dress and later pulled it down from her neck to reveal a black dress. He has a black shirt with a red paint splotch going from shoulder to waist on both the front & back. I have no opinions about their actual program.

Roberts/Alis - Weird synth, strings and droning music. Her dress makes her look unfortunately boxy for most of the programme to accommodate the extra fabric for a costume change. They seemed a pretty solid mid-pack team in juniors, but looked really slow here and don’t seem senior ready.

Dance is underway. Karl/Hoferichter withdrew.

There are only 3.44 points between 2nd and 7th place after the RD. This is going to be quite a battle.

Ritter/Brykalov - she's in a red dress that has some corset boning over a lace midriff section, drapey sleeve straps, chiffon strips skirt; he's in a white dress shirt that is airbrushed with dark, charcoal grey on the shoulders, and black pants. The music sounded like some epic movie soundtrack at first and now it's gone into some 1960s ballad or something like "Days of Wine & Roses" - but not DoW&R to be clear. Honestly, their entire look made me think of Gone With the Wind and start wondering if any ID team had done a really good GWtW FD and thinking that could be really interesting. Which is a long-winded way of saying this is a pleasant enough team that doesn't hold my attention at all, a la Garabedian/Proulx-Senecal before they retired.

Ritter/Brykalov - Mayerling (60s film, not the ballet). Sorry Daniel Brykalov, but I was distracted by thinking about when I saw Carlos Acosta dance Prince Rudolf. This was not as fun as last year’s FD with the green lipstick and Pasha squats.

Argentieri/Riva are so new/unimportant to the FISG that they don't even have an ISU bio page yet, lol. She's in plain white, sheer midriff, illusion neck and sleeves of white chiffon to match the flowy skirt layers; and he's in all black with a turtleneck. This is lyrical contemporary snot. Really nice rotational lift though. Music is "Two Men in Love" by The Irrepressibles. Just your standard, slow emo dreck.

Argentieri/Riva - I really like their straight line lift with him doing a drag and her showing some impressive core strength. Also impressive that she can sing along to dirgy Irrepressibles. Nice to see the Italian field continuing to develop.

Paolino/Tuba - silvery-white slip dress for her that would be great for prom or as lingerie; he's in a grey shirt that has some silver crystals on the sides with grey chiffon cutouts and sleeves, and black pants. More lyrical, contemporary snot - music is The Storm by Havasi, Lisa Gerrard - I guess the plus is it's not emo dreck, right? They're really feeling this music and making sure to flail their arms dramatically at all the right musical highlights, lol.

This wailing is dreadful. I like Paolino/Tuba, but it's hard to sell this music.

The most memorable thing G/P-S did was wuz rob themselves after COVID protocols were followed at the 2021 worlds. Maybe it’s better not to be memorable. :cat:

LMAO - how sad is it that I'd totally forgotten about that incident?! All I remember is their ultimate vanilla scented candle FD to "Autumn Leaves" - and how much I hated it and the fact that they'd made it to the Olympics at all.

Well, let's see what sort of lyrical dreck the next Italian team, Dozzi/Papetti, have for us...

Between these Hands (Album: Music Inspired by the film Roma by Asaf Avidan
Reckoning Song (In a Box III Version) Album: In a Box III: Acoustic Recordings by Asaf Avidan

I wish I had faith that Team IAM-Ontario would come up with something good for them but I've seen Alis/Roberts and Ritter/Brykalov's programs already today, so I only have hope for CarPon out of that branch, lol.

Bright sapphire blue turtleneck tops with black skirt for her and pants for him - her top is open-backed and has a keyhole in the front plus a tiny cutout at the waist and is VERY sparkly.

Oh, this is MODERN dance. They're actually moving with good speed across the ice. They're probably the 2nd best team at IAM-Ontario, to be fair. There's something about their style and this program that reminds me of HawBak - and that's never a bad thing! Physically, they don't look like HawBak - which may also benefit them in the long run with the better matched height differential. Good twizzles.

I'd be down with them replacing Manni/Roethlisberger as the 2nd Italians at Euros and Worlds. Not that they're going to the Olympics - that spot's gonna go to Tali/Lafornara, lol.

Paolini/Tuba and Dozzi/Papetti both competent but unmemorable. All the IAM Ontario teams so far with obscure music choices to compensate for CPom doing Carmen.

D/P got the Grishuk/Platov Memorial choreo moment this season.

Terreaux/Perron - black pants and weird black shirt with a droopy neckline and it ombres into a dark mustard color on parts of the shirt and sleeves; her dress is a similar dirt/mustardy brown, one shoulder and a bunch of gold/copper stoning over one boob and down the waist and a couple of ropes. Music is not updated on ISU bio but Shazam says "Requiem, K 626: Lacrimosa" - so, classical contemporary dance snot. They used to be neck & neck with Lagouge/Caffa for that 3rd GPdF spot every year but they keep falling farther and farther behind, especially with bland crap like this.

It's Mozart, not snot, although someone made it softer and dreamier than the Requiem should be.

I was expecting another Dune programme from the sand coloured dress so I’ll take angsty Lacrimosa. Not sure what the hammering a nail sound effect/mime in the middle was about.

Goodness, what do the Hungarians have on? Let me guess -- Joker program? ETA: No, it doesn't seem to be from any particular soundtrack ... well, wait, the second song is "The Joker and the Queen," so maybe that is the idea after all.

Gah! Ignateva/Szemko also haven't updated their ISU bios. Get with the program, dancers!

This is gonna be some crazy Cirque like they did a couple seasons ago, judging by their costumes. Red Hat Ladies Society meets punk ballet?

Shazam is our friend today...

"Tick Tock Goes the Clock" by Jo Blankeburg, "The Joker and the Queen" by Ed Sheeran, "Rock and Roll Part II" by Gary Glitter

So, creepy, goth, punk murder mystery? This second section is very soft and sweet, but I'm guessing it turns dark again. Ooooooo - really neat rotational lift with her over his shoulders and legs spread out. The last section is really short and kind of goes nowhere. They need to rework that and go with something darker, more similar to the first section, that really has a much stronger impact. Lots of potential in this program to stand out in an awesome way but that last section just does nothing.

ETA - can anyone read what the back of his vest says?

Other than the costumes and the character step that was pretty bland for a Joker programme (on the other hand, I hate Joker programmes…). It also felt pretty “first time out” so I expect them to commit more later in the season - we know they can do weird from their Cirque programme a couple of seasons ago.

Score felt quite generous.

Here we go with Matthaei/Liebers's four different versions of "Experience" program!

Matthaei/Liebers are skating to Einaudi's "Experience" in forest green with some crystals. I'm curious to see what kind of a score they get here. Their RD score wasn't far off of JvRStef's SB last season. Good for German ice dance, having at least two teams to push JvRStef into being better. I mean, this isn't terribly interesting - just more contemporary arm flailing to the musical highlights but at least his costumes fit him properly.

It's Mozart, not snot, although someone made it softer and dreamier than the Requiem should be.
I know it's Mozart but making it softer & dreamier turns it into CLASSICAL CONTEMPORARY lyrical snot. It's just... Not right. If you're going to sample classical and turn it into something contemporary/pop then be like Eric Carmen and give us something really memorable like "All By Myself", okay?

Lagouge/Caffa - he's got a deep red turtleneck & black pants, some sparkles on the shirt; she has a deep red dress that turns to burgundy for one sleeve and about a third of the top and a quarter of the skirt.

How are you? No Really by Jake Isaac, Joshua Luke Smith
The Ball by Asaf Avidan
Si c'etait le dernier by Diam's

This was mostly pretty bland contemporary instrumental lyrical and then it turned edgy with a bit of a hip-hop vibe to the last piece. Not bad at all. Should get them to Euros this season now that FRA is back up to 3 spots.
