Bekker/Hernandez and Pinchuk/Pogorielov are now out of the test event too. Larson/Kapran were listed as substitutes but haven’t been added (I guess if they’re in Florida it’s too late for them to make it to Milan).
I'd guess the only skaters who would be able to make it to this event on short notice are ones who train in Europe. We'll see, I guess.

Hmmmm... So, both Tali/Lafornara and Guignard/Fabbri are at the Unipol Forum where the Road to 26 Trophy is being held, but Camille Kovalev posted the results link and only the 8 teams listed currently are on the starting order for ID.

They train in Milan so it's not surprising they would stop by. They may be doing something with media.

If there's a gala, I'd expect G/F to have been invited to it. But there are also ambassador/spokespeople invitees to local events.

Yes, most definitely. I'm going to go out on a limb, though, and predict that Tali/Lafornara have the 2nd Italian dance spot firmly within their grasp, especially if they win Jr Worlds next week.
without a shadow of a doubt - do we know if Noah has his Italian citizenship?

For sure. It's partly why I think all the on the bubble teams who don't secure an Olympic spot at Worlds are going to have an even harder time of it at Not Nebelhorn. In Beijing they'll be up against Tali/Lafornara, a Russian team and probably some more generous scoring for Ren/Xing to thank the Chinese fed for hosting.

The ice dance mid-field is so competitive at the moment - those four and fifth RD groups at Worlds are going to be a bloodbath. And I know whoever makes it I'm going to be sad about someone who misses out.

Callers at Four Continents are
David Molina (France), Judy Blumberg (USA) and Taehwa Yang (South Korea)
Referee is Hillary Selby (Great Britain).

Recommendations from ISU Code of Ethics:
  1. When appointing the members of the Technical Panel and the Referees for ISU Senior Championships, whenever possible, there shall be no appointments of Officials from ISU Members whose Skaters can reasonably be expected to place 1 – 5 in the respective discipline. In case this is not possible, all members of the Technical Panel and the Referee for the respective discipline shall, whenever possible, be from ISU Members whose Skater(s) can reasonably be expected to place 1 – 5 in the respective discipline at the ISU Championships concerned.
I struggle to believe they couldn't find someone not from USA given all European technical specialists. There also a couple of Japanese specialists with ISU qualification.
_____

Road to 26 Milan completion have
Shawn Rettstatt as Referee.
Ingrid Charlotte Wolter (Germany) as controller.
Francesca Fermi (Italy) and Svetlana Liapina Guerreiro (Austrália) as specialists.

A glimpse into a beautiful lift; the balance is phenomenal!

i remember when delobel/shoenfelder used to do that lift. and denkova/staviisky used to do a similar one but they were shoulder to shoulder!

Do junior teams ever get a thread started here? Tali/Lafornara- just so much upside. They delivered even with a significant wardrobe issue, and I’m seeing that groundswell excitement around them that is starting to feel a little reminiscent.

They're moving up to seniors now, so you could go ahead and start a thread for them. I started one for Grimmskiy the second they skated in their first senior competition. :)

They will compete as seniors next season right? And do Noah have Italian citizenship?

25-26 RD news from an ID reporter at Europeans:

The ISU legal team is still working on the music copyright issues for the Olympic season. The final decision is expected to be announced during Boston Worlds.
So now it is still "21st Century dance party", and unfortunately the alternative is not classical as rumored, but "1990s Music" (1990-1999).

Ugh, the decade thing with no parameters/boundaries is so lazy and uncreative. I guess the IDTC doesn't understand that the best art comes of out of constraints being imposed upon the creators. There are tons of ways to design RDs with more recent music that would be way more interesting than just saying "do this decade - whatever that means!" There could be a "contemporary waltz" theme to music composed after the middle of the 20th century or "swing revival" theme with swing-related rhythms done to more recent music. I could go on. :)
