I don't know how many injuries are required to be considered "decimated by injuries", but I'd say the Braves are there.

Sadly, yes. They're fortunate that Sale and Ozuna are having career years, because some of the names in those lineups strike fear in no one.

I forgot that Reynaldo Lopez has also been out with an injury recently, he's just been activated.

Somehow my Phillies remain with the best record in baseball! Banged up but still fighting!

How about them Tigers?

In all honesty, I haven’t been following baseball because I don’t have access to it on tv, but my parents watch every game (Dad especially). They’re 28-11 since early August and in the wildcard conversation. Who’d have thought playoff baseball could come to Detroit this year?

Yeah, that game was painful. :scream:

Congratulations!

I hope Hyde now knows which pitchers not to put out when the game is on the line.

Thank you!

Yeah, he needs to figure that out quick. That bullpen seems iffy. Of course, we have had our issues too. Looking at you Clay Holmes.

Hooray for the Tigers! :cheer: However much he was not a big baseball fan they were my father's team (at least until we got the Nationals). Also my Detroit area cousin's team. But are they going to play the Orioles in the playoffs? Oh dear divided loyalties!

Meanwhile I want to note the sad fate of the White Sox who just broke the all-time record for losses. :( And the sad fate for Oakland losing the A's. I remember the Oakland teams of 50 years ago who were so fabulous.

Also the Nationals managed to beat the Phillies once on this last weekend of baseball haha

Yes, my Phillies are not playing like the second best record in the National league. Maybe they are experiencing letdown after winning the division. I hope they put themselves together before they actually play in the post-season, and I have no idea what they are going to do with Ranger Suarez, who pitched like Cy Young half the year, and has been sucking the life out of the team since the All-Star break.

That was a shocking performance for Suarez last night. I'm rooting for the Phillies in the post-season but if they want to take a couple more days to put things back together, that would be okay. :saint:

I'm listening to the beginning of the Nationals-Phillies game. The team whose lineup starts Schwarber-Turner-Harper is the one I like in the playoffs! (Even if Nationals fans are "supposed" to hate Bryce Harper  )

So generous of the Phils to give the Nationals another gifted game. What a waste of Wheeler today, poor guy should be a 20 game winner and get the Cy Young. My team kinda sucks right now. I hope they get their heads on straight for the actual playoffs.

If I heard right on the Nationals game, the Phillies lost home field advantage in the playoffs to the Dodgers by losing today? Sorry, that sucks!

I did enjoy the Nationals side of it though. James Wood :cheer:

James Wood is one hot young player! He's going to be one to watch for quite a while! Yeah, Phils lost their chance of home field to the Dodgers today. So hopefully they can win on the road!

So the Orioles and Tigers are in different brackets, so I can root for both!

And today Atlanta and the Mets have to play a makeup doubleheader of two games washed out by Hurricane Helene to determine the final wild card slot for the National league, which will end up as two out of three of Atlanta, NY Mets, and Arizona (even though Arizona is done for the season).

This is a pretty good showdown.

Well that first game was a doozy, but the Mets won and so they are in the post-season. Atlanta has to win the second game to get in.

We’ll see if it’s the Braves or the Diamondbacks. As our local minor league team is a Diamondbacks affiliate, I’ll be rooting for them!

And on the very last day of the 2024 regular baseball season, the Hit King, Pete Rose, has passed away at the age of 83. He is definitely not perfect but he knew this game extremely well and he won't be forgotten for how he played for my city during all those years with the Reds. RIP Charlie Hustle :fragile:

It is only symbolic that the Braves' season came down to a final game in which their best pitcher had to be scratched due to back spasms.

We Braves fans have been spoiled these past few years, but given the extent of the injuries this team has dealt with starting right on opening day, even managing a wild card in game 162 is impressive.

I was impressed with how they came back in the second game of the doubleheader. That first had to be crushing such a roller coaster. Its incredible that they made the post-season despite the injuries. I know at one point even the Nationals beat them and I was like, whoa, this isn't the Atlanta team we usually see.

Post-season can bring out grit and determination; good luck to them vs. San Diego!

As a Phillies fan I'm a die-hard Braves hater, but even I had sympathy for them this year. I wish them luck in the playoffs....until they face the Phils of course! And good luck to Chris Sale for the Cy Young.

I want to think that it will help those with nagging things going on like Harper and Hays. But I don't have really high hopes of a long post-season run for them, they've just been so erratic. I'll hope that Red October lights their flame tho!

I'm definitely a little wary of the lay off for teams who win the divisions. Its sort of a problem, but on the other hand they do get a rest.

I'm for the Phillies for as far as they can get. :)
