As a Phillies fan I'm a die-hard Braves hater, but even I had sympathy for them this year. I wish them luck in the playoffs....until they face the Phils of course! And good luck to Chris Sale for the Cy Young.
I think that's a done deal at this point. It boggles the mind that the Braves basically got a Cy Young pitcher for Vaughn Grissom.

Obviously I am contractually obligated to detest the Phillies, but they won the division this year fair and square. Enjoy!

ETA: this season I FINALLY got to see the Braves in person when they played at Houston. Had the rotation worked out as planned, Spencer Strider would have been the starter. Instead it was someone called Darius Flowers, whoever that is. Anyway, they won! It was very exciting.

 I'm oblivious to requirements of fandom (not to mention that losing teams don't really have rivals to hate  except a long-standing Washington thing that goes back to the Senators but I won't go there ;) )

I probably should root against both the Phillies and Atlanta but I like the Phillies because of their ex-Nats and other good players and while I'm not a fan of Atlanta I admire them for what a great team they are (when they don't have massive injuries!). I know about that because of all the times the beat the Nationals.

Tigers-Astros. Tigers up 3-0 until the 9th. Astros get a couple hits. Possible bad call from the ump (called a strike a foul tip according to Detroit announcers). Bases loaded, 2 out. 3-1 Tigers. Line drive caught! Whew!!!

The question now....will they actually make it past the wild card round?
Apparently not. :(

I'm not sure what the Orioles need...obviously pitching, esp relief - Bautista should theoretically be recovered and ready by spring training but needs more help...they probably should re-sign Santander but who knows how much the new ownership is willing to spend.

Well it’s going to be the Mets my Phillies face this weekend. At least we have home field advantage.

Well, this been quite an emotional week for Reds fans: Early in the week we sadly lost Pete Rose (he died of natural causes) but today it was announced that Terry Francona will be our new Reds manager which is SO freaking awesome. I've always loved how he's worked with his past teams and I feel like he's just the right person to get my Reds back to the postseason (and maybe even finally win a postseason series which we haven't done in a LONG time). Yay Terry and welcome to Cincy!! :cheer:

The Orioles need a new hitting coach.

The time has come for the Guardians' curse to be ended.

If that's not an option then, err... Detroit?

Detroit works for me! :cheer2::cheer2:

In all seriousness, it's just so much fun to even be in the conversation. The Tigers have been so bad for a while now (including earlier this year ) that I'm just happy for baseball to be played here in October.

Beware: the Yankees' World Series performance in election years is weirdly correlated with the outcome of the election.

(correlation does not equal causation, etc.)

I thought the Yankees usually win if they are in the WS when a Dem is in office (Biden is in office), but what is the correlation with the outcome of the election?

Since 1952:

1952 - Yankees win, Republicans win
1956 - Yankees win, Republicans win
1960 - Yankees lose, Republicans lose
1964 - Yankees lose, Republicans lose
1976 - Yankees lose, Republicans lose
1996 - Yankees win, Republicans lose (the one exception!)
2000 - Yankees win, Republicans win

The Dodgers continue to make the Yankees look like toddlers and I’m loving it. Wish that Freddie Freeman could end up on my Phillies somehow!
