Veillon/Brandys - oh, yes, the odd color palette costumes for a Chaplin program... FFS random YT ad during their one-foot step sequence! This is all very nice, but very safe.

FradForn - biff by Celina on the twizzles. Oh, good the music is back. The hell with the tango FDs?! We had our fill with the RDs last season, coaches/choreographers! They seem to have sort of stalled out in their development this season. They should count themselves lucky that this field was so watered down they could snag the silver because they're going to be really lucky to finish top 4 in Osaka, I think.

I don't think Fradji/Forneaux have a bat's chance in hell at medaling in Osaka - not with Neset/Markelov, Tkachenko/Kiliakov, Nguyen/Giang and Kishimoto/Tamura there, not to mention the Mullens.

I'm catching up on dance. The sound works fine now. Unfortunately, there are ads galore.

I loved the little Australian girl dressed like Holly Golightly, and the girl with the cotton candy dress. If you're a junior ice dancer skating to Sleeping Beauty, might as well milk it!

So happy for the Koreans' medal, but I thought their TES should have been higher. Lovely skate. I'm picking up a Meryl Davis vibe from Jinny -- that serenity and quiet confidence.

Leah and Artem are stunning. I need them to stay together and stay healthy, because if they're this good now, imagine how good they'll be in the future.

Went back to watch Veillon/Brandys' FD, nice work interpreting the character piece with some credible efforts to include humor.

I guess teams really enjoyed the tango RD, but it seems odd to have so many tango FDs the next season.

So I went back to compare F/F's tango from last season to this one to see if they've come up with something different.

My first thought is that the approach looks similar, similar black costumes, even the same straight line lift, and definitely lots of the same traditional sharp movement with bent-knee kicks (for lack of a better description).

OTOH, the music is subtler, so they are bringing a softer quality to this tango. And there are more highs and lows and variations in this musical piece, which could bring out a more nuanced and varied expression. I also agree with Amy that:

Fradji/Fourneaux out there being super French.

Something that wasn't as apparent in the 2022-2023 RD version.

Unfortunately, one of the things I immediately noticed was how much more confident they looked in last season's version. Granted, it was end of season compared to the beginning here, but they skated with much more command and attack in the RD version. I hope they can get that level back as the season progresses.
