I forgot what time the women's short at quebec sectionals was on. Thankfully their live streams always lets you rewind quite a bit so I was able to watch Miclette. Looks like a clean program but no triple triple. 61.09.

Wow Pomerleau did a huge triple toe triple toe to open her program. Solo triple is the salchow very clean. Clean double axel too. Very impressed. 58.76

Junior pair short is starting in the other rink so I switched to that feed. I'm curious to see if Izzo and Ferland will skate in senior pairs later.

Would you mind giving us a heads-up if they do? I'd appreciate it. There are always skaters I want to see at Canadian sectionals, but I find it hard to keep track of all the times and rinks. :) Hoping to at least catch some of the dance tomorrow.

Sure will.

Ariano Kent fell on the double axel and then fell hard on the throw triple loop. Obviously not their best skate but this team is obviously good with a lot of potential.

Best to get the falls out of their system now rather than at the JGP Final. Very nice 3twist though!

Izzo/Ferland

Double twist
She singled the sbs triple toe
Fall on the throw triple loop

Rest of the pair elements not too bad for someone coming to pairs so late in their career.

Well, they still look like the very new pair they are. But they seemed to be having fun with it!

I wish DailyMotion would do something about those hideous pop-up ads that kept blaring at me all through their skate. I'd turn the sound off but then the next one would have sound again. So irritating.

Foster looked good on her jumps, though she often gets UR calls so we'll see. Triple flip to open (after popping it a lot this year) and a 3toe 3toe but the camera missed most of the second jump LOL but the GOE on the tracker was good, so...and her double axel. Fingers crossed she skates well in the free and convinces Skate Canada to give her an assignment. She's definitely good enough to be on the international scene. 33.64 is the tech at the end of the skate (highest so for) so we'll compare it with her actual score. Score is taking forever so not a good sign LOL.

59.70 and 32.37 tech in the end.

A few notes from Jr/Sr pairs:

Rolland/Lacasse skated very well, made solid attempts at sbs 3sals and throw 3sal. Score was 85.76, definitely a team to keep an eye on.

Ariano Kent/Laliberté-Laurent had a bit of a tough skate. Opened with a decent 3twist, 2A - 2A sequence (AK stumbled out of the 2nd jump), nasty fall on throw 3loop, sbs 3sals (big 2ft AK), difficulties with the dismount on the final lift. Score was 83.72, lots of pressure on this young team so early in their career, hopefully they can get themselves sorted out before the JGPF.

Izzo/Ferland skated their FP to Labrinth's "Beneath Your Beautiful". :) Aborted/1twist to start, 3toe combo (Izzo step out, not able to attempt 2nd jump), a very pretty (but careful/slow) reverse lift, sbs 2flip, throw 3lutz (fall), aborted hip lift, throw 1loop. Score was 70.56, obviously early days, but could be the start of a successful partnership. Best of luck to them!

I'm watching the last two groups of senior women from Quebec sectionals. Théroux had another challenging skate, three falls and one popped jump. I hope she can find the form that gave her the win at the nextgen competition. She is leading and still managed 95.18 in the free with a tech score of 51.12.

Nour-Houda Foura opened with a huge triple lutz that had high GOE per the tracker but hasn't managed another triple. She did a few doubles that were intended triples I think. The tracker has her tech over 45 which is good considering.

She's in third with 6 to go, but Miclette and Théroux have byes so she'll advance to challenge and she looks very relieved.

Quebec has a lot of good skaters. Justine Lussier did a nice triple flip double toe double loop to open. I think she attempted five types of triples and landed a few of them. 101.08 and another very happy skater and coach!

Mia Clark landed a few nice triples, up to triple loop. She did pop one of her triples later in the program. 103.52 in the free and first overall. Lots of happy skaters in the kiss and cry today

I don't think Marie‐Raphaële Savoie is going to continue the streak of skaters breaking 100. I think she landed two clean triples. LOL I'm wrong. 104.21 in the free and she's leading and another happy kiss and cry. I wonder what the top 3 will get if they go near clean LOL

Marie-Maude Pomerleau started with two falls (triple lutz and double axel triple toe) but did a nice 3sal 2axel 2toe combo and a triple toe double toe. Will this break 100 too? Her short was much better obviously but she's a good skater with potential. 99.52 so the 100 points streak is broken. Let's hope Foster brings it back! Pomerleau is 2nd overall

Ugh Foster near fall on the triple lutz triple toe, then finally makes the triple flip in the free but falls on the single axel after it. Popped the loop to a single and then fell on the second triple flip :( Finally stood up a jump pass with a triple toe double toe. Oh well. Hopefully she'll do better at the challenge. 97.52 in the free, drops to fourth overall so far. Not her day.

Miclette is not skating well today. As I say that she landed a triple toe double axel and a triple salchow but she really struggled with jumps otherwise. This is such a beautiful program though so I hope she can deliver it better at challenge and nationals. 100.38 and she seems shocked by that score. 161.47 is second overall.
