Kara Yun had a clean-ish program after a tough skate at the NextGen simulation. Hopefully this will give her some confidence going into the JGP in Austria.

Uliana skated a very clean program, rebounding from an uncharacteristic SP miss at NextGen. FWIW, her PCS increased by nearly 7 points from that event. It will be interesting to see her scores from the international panel at JGP Istanbul.

Pretty decent skate for early season. I thought they were going to abort their lift, but after a little pause they managed to get it up there. (It's possible it was supposed to look like that, because it got positive GOE! :) ) ETA: 64.11.

I liked the look of the program, interesting choreography, a bit edgy. Music is "River" by Bishop Briggs. The unison on the first half of their sbs spins was particularly impressive. Not a fan of the upside down split lift position in general, always looks unbalanced to me. 🤷‍♀️

I was also impressed with Caidence & Raine's very nice throw 3Lutz 🤩 and the one armed lift in the drape position.

Looks like the video from the first half of today is up now. I'm trying to FF my way through to find the junior and senior pairs.

(junior pair warm up starts at around 3hrs 57m)

I've just started to watch the feed and popped in on young pairs. I really like young Art Tyomkin. He had lovely spin positions and centering, and a nice, dancy quality with good timing.

Gogo! Actually showed up and had a decent skate. :) SP music this season is "Sound of Silence" by Disturbed. Not a terribly original choice, but definitely easier to skate to than some of his previous SP's. Score is 78.61.
He got a -1 for a time violation.

Okay, so finally got around to watching Kemp/Elizarov and the senior teams.

KempEliz - I realize they're young and still pretty green, but I'd have expected them to have upped their difficulty on either the throw or the twist in the offseason to a triple. Not sure their best will be good enough to contend for a medal at their first JGP considering the field.

PerMich - bit crashy on their twist landing; really nice SBS 3Ts! rough step-out on the throw. It's a decent program, if a bit generic. It didn't really hold my attention much. :(

Schmitz/Taylor - I'm not sure what their rationale for competing senior domestically is when their technical content is still pretty junior, though that was a really nice throw 3lo. If I thought PerMich's program was a bit generic, this one's a LOT generic.

Derenisky/Eberl - that 3tw needs work; nice SBS 3S! LOL - the camera didn't want us to see the set-down on that lift. She's got nice flow on the landing of the throw 3Lz! This is a team to keep an eye on, folks. They get that twist in order and leveled up and they'll be competing for the podium at Canadians.

I really liked Kara’s short program her lutz and other triples looking solid. She looks ready for her jpg. Just goes to show can’t just use one next gen simulation to determine JGP spots.

Yipe, Gover/Wilson French into 3rd with 45.92. I'm starting to wonder how long this partnership can hold on. There's such a glaring difference in their skill levels, unfortunately. ETA: They're even behind Tibau/Dawson now.

Nice skate by Chung/MacKenzie today. Good connection, good flow, and she has a lot of personality. I thought they might break 50. They didn't, but I think there's potential there for the future.

Not overly impressed with that skate. Nice to see the 3twist back and a level 3 on the death spiral, but just a throw 2loop again and errors on the lift and sbs 2axels. They look quite undertrained, which is odd given that they're now full-time with a trained pairs coach. I know it sounds odd, but hopefully the issues are injury related and not some weird regression.

Junior women short, nice triple- triple from Abbie Baltzer and was so close on the triple lutz just fell off the edge. She has grown a lot a young woman now. Great score 53.75 I could see that being quite a bit higher clean.

Abbie Baltzer did a very nice triple loop triple toe but fell on her triple lutz, but got a good score of 53.75 (including 2 points in bonus)
