The red costume has to go. I know Lauriault likes the pants look, and that's fine; but this cut is atrocious. It makes her bottom look big (and we know she's a tiny thing), plus when you do red in a pant suit, they look like long johns.

Also, I would like to recommend some hydroblading in our Danger Zone RDs.

(Thank you for reading this incredibly insightful technical analysis of the RD portion of this event;)).

Wolf/Tsar into 1st with a new SB. A little unpolished, I thought (and I don't remember the choreography being quite this busy before), but their lines and synchronicity were very good.

Scores are on the very high side today. Heads will explode when they see the final results, I'm just going to guess it now. And of course, the scores will only have been inflated for one team ;)

D/LeM, first half Debussy, second half something contemporary. Pretty good skate, just a bit rough in spots. Probably would have been smoother if they'd had the chance to do their trial run at Masters. But they're into 1st.

Les Gacs with their Corpse Bride program! Very cool opening move where she rides around on his foot. She went all out with the makeup, and he's got an apron or tails or something. I hope she doesn't get tangled up in them.

That's a very striking program. For a team that once struggled to put a coherent FD together, they have really stepped up their game. Into 1st with 188.32.

Here comes the swan with the bubble braid ...
Maybe she can grace us with a fall on the 1st twizzle today, lol.

D/S clean as far as elements go, but looking sloppy and frantic. It will score in the stratosphere and @tony will be very happy. :)
Nah, just can't wait to read the dissertations across FSU about how they are the sole team benefitting from being overscored when almost every team in the last groups here received a personal best in the free dance, and some by a big margin :)

If only we had someone to start proclaiming World bronze for them.

If I were trying to fix an event, I’d make sure everyone’s scores were as high as they could be plausibly, because it’s win-win for all of the participants, especially those that need to get minimums and for whom it’s an advantage to renew them.

Davis/Smolkin wouldn’t be a surprise to beat everyone in this field, and they barely beat Les Gacs in the FD.

I'm just tired of the assumptions that DavSmo are somehow going to wind up with some random GP assignment because of the CS win. Dance is the HARDEST discipline to pick up an assignment in and there are too many teams that belong to host feds waiting for a 2nd assignment. None of those teams are getting burned in favor of DavSmo who will place top 5, maybe medal, at Euros and are on track for top 10 at Worlds. They don't NEED a GP and there's no reason to give them one.

The thing about ice dance scores, and I'm pretty sure this is in a manual somewhere, is that my favorites should be much higher and the people I don't like should be much lower.

Although I haven't seen D/S today, but really their skating skills truly looked degraded at the last competition. I will maintain they were over scored there because it was not great (and in fact worse than they had been in the past where I thought they were given kind of ok scores).

Does anyone know how W/T’s scores stack up with comparable US couples? Not that it means much.

did they score better?
No. Mrazeks FD scored 110.12 at Nebelhorn, I believe…D/S FD 116.63 today……but I enjoyed the Czechs’ overall balletic look and costumes. D/S’ use of the deep low “Mr Frick glide” (Trusova style) was a stylistic turn off, for starters.
