Sakamoto is an excellent example to other skaters that you should pick the one thing you do best, even if it's not the most technically difficult element, and make it as special as possible.

Not sure I agree with Kaori being first in sp ... may have got a bit of a reputation gift from the judges today. But, I know her speed, flow and general overall skating skills are supreme, so I'm okay with it, I guess.

On a side note, I'm sure the sparkly, pastel dresses are lovely in person but they don't show up that well on my computer screen. I prefer the deeper, richer shades ... or ... Starr in hot pink! ;)

I feel like there are many Beyonce songs that I would like better for skating.

Agreed. I wish some in skating would realize that just because you enjoy certain songs doesn’t mean it will work for skating. I think something more melodic from Beyoncé would work fine. I’d love to see someone use XO for example.

Rion was robbed. No way Sakamoto should have had positive GOE on either of the big jumping passes, with the flutz and with that very awkward, sloppy double flip. Boooooooo.

I thought that Chaeyeon Kim and Young You should've been closer to Sakamoto than Sakamoto to Sumiyoshi. I have to hope karma takes over in the free skate, as it did for Loopless Loena last week. :EVILLE:

Nothing to say about the Americans, other than Starr's underrotations did not even require a review. I like Glenn's program, but the combo took the life out of it. Sad to see her quite so low, nearly tied with a skater who had two falls on underrotated jumps and an edge issue.

who else should have been in first  Kaori is light-years ahead on Rion in PCS and was rightly marked thus. Her lutz even got a warning so no eyes closed for her for anything. Kim had an < on the toe and while better than Rion in skating skills, not up to Kaori's level yet and there was no one else?
