Ooops, didn't see the rest of this thread until I got back to the hotel. Lanie, I came over to meet Firedancer during the ice cut, I just missed you! I was the woman in the black jacket with brown hair and white mask.

He said the staff here (and at Canadian arenas generally) knows more about keeping ice hard and at a consistent temperature than in places where hockey isn’t played regularly.

Dance practice was a bit of a horror show tonight. Started off with a thud and poor Diana Davis down on the ice. I didn't see what happened, but Smolkin was lifting her up all wobbly & it took a while for her to look herself. Whatever happened, I hope she got checked out.

Then the Germans splatted at the end of that group, followed by about 4 or 5 more falls as the night went on. Along with those mentioned earlier on this thread, I remember Simova & Aksenov missed their final element. Oh, and the Chinese team. (She went down, I think on the footwork. They had a good reaction afterward). Might as well get those nerves out of the way.

The returning medalists all looked good.

The Canadian crowd is gaga over Lajoie & Lagha.

I think maybe all the dance teams were here tonight? Much better attended than yesterday's early morning practice. For those who wish to know, Soucisse & Firus and Lim & Quan looked good. There are, IMO, too many Prince numbers along with the three or so Hero numbers; but happily there is no lullaby music in the RD. The French teams & Carreira & Ponomarenko looked good. Reed & Ambrulevicius looked confident. Mom & I have found the Czech & Finnish group to be one of the most fun to watch--I think there's some inner competition & nerves going on there. We're cutting off at 20, yes? I count about 16 teams that I think are solid to make the cut. That leaves only 4 berths? And maybe 8 or 9 teams that I think could get those spots. It's gonna be tough.

Yes, @Dobre, the top 20 make the FD. It's going to be a nail biter and, just looking at the SB scores in the RD, I'd say your guess of about 8-9 fighting it out for those last 4 spots is accurate. Such a deep field of talent!
