Cross-posting from USFS Broadcast thread:

Just confirmed to me - Senior/Junior events on Peacock and Novice & below on USFS' YT channel. :)

Here is a pleasant surprise: Also on USFS YouTube channel are videos for Junior Men SP at Pacific Coast Sectionals.
They were uploaded last night, meaning Thursday Nov 14. The competition took place on Wednesday night Nov 13.
(The Peacock replay still is available too -- expires tonight, meaning Friday.)

On YouTube as of now are individual videos for seven (of the eight) Junior Men: Ryan William Azadpour, Vaclav Vasquez, Aaron Li, Nicholas Brooks, Arsen Meghavoryan, Ryedin Rudedenman, and Ethan Kormanyos.
The only missing SP: Sergei Evseev, who was last in the starting order on Wednesday.

The YouTube videos at least for Vaclav Vasquez, Ryedin Rudedenman, and Ryan William Azadpour have their real program music (as opposed to substitution of something else).
(I have not double-checked the other YT videos.)

So, after this weekend's Sectionals, the Top 3 in the "Next Highest Score" race for Nationals are:

Liam Kapeikis 207.57
Michael Xie 201.02
Samuel Mindra 194.99

Next week's Mids men now know what they need in order to get a spot.

Any chance Yaroslav Paniot will/could petition to get to Nationals after withdrawing from Pacific Coasts?

Also, could Liam Kapeikis' participation at Golden Skate change anything as far as senior men's entries for Nationals?

So nice to see Kai Kovar skate so well at his "home" rink - especially his short program. He looks "grown-up"

I don't see what basis he would have to do that. There are no medical byes anymore, and it's not as if he has any comp results or assignments that would remotely qualify him for any other bye.

Good question. If he ends up not qualifying, I wonder if USFS would pull him from the assignment. But OTOH, he did earn his spot on the ISP so I assume he'll still go if he wants. If your question is whether USFS would give him an entry to Nats b/c he has an assignment, that's not how the qualification works, and there would be no basis for them to do so.

First of all, its pretty likely that he qualifies for Nationals knowing how many spots there are and who is skating at Mids. But no, they will not and should not pull anyone from an assignment as punishment for not making Nationals. That would just be cruel. The only thing I would like to see as a result of Sectionals would be some of the top scoring skaters added to internationals if possible.

Actually I was wondering if Liam could get his entry to Nationals from Golden Skate, thus freeing up a spot for someone else from Sectionals. I didn't think it was a possibility, just wondering.

What is this "Golden Skate" you keep mentioning? Liam does not have any further international assignments between now and Nationals per the USFS' Int'l Assignments page.

The rule is a combo of 3 int'l assignments between GPs and Challengers gets a skater a bye.

I assumed from your post that Liam was assigned to Golden Spin, since I hadn't checked which men we were sending. But he's not, so I'm not sure what you mean. But the only way Liam is qualifying for Nats is through one of the 'next best scores' spots.

As haribobo noted, it's highly likely that Liam will qualify for Wichita.

Just curious do skaters assigned to Santa Claus cup get a bye? Or does it depend?

I was sure I had seen his name on the Golden Spin list - Oh well. My mistake.
He's listed as a substitute, but those are alphabetical, so there's no guarantee he'd be assigned if one of the three assigned did withdraw.
Just curious do skaters assigned to Santa Claus cup get a bye? Or does it depend?
No. The Bye policy explicitly lists the events that qualify toward the 3 International Assignments - JGPs, GPs, and all the Challengers except Tallinn Trophy, Warsaw Cup & Golden Spin - though if a skater is assigned to Tallinn or Warsaw they receive a travel bye; and the pairs teams assigned to IceChallenge Graz also received a travel bye.

Notably, the ice dancers assigned to IceChallenge Graz as well as Tomoki Hiwatashi (only 2 int'ls - Cranberry & NHK Trophy) did NOT get a travel bye as their Nov int'ls were more than 2 weeks before Mids/Dance Final.

No!!!!! That's terrible news. I hope he is able to heal and come back strong.

And, not to sound callous at all, but since we're discussing the Men's Nats spots, this does open up a 4th spot for the "Next Highest Score" across all 3 Sectionals.

Oh, ouch. I wonder how that happened. That's going to be a long road of very painful recovery ahead of him, to say nothing of his skating recovery. I hope it goes well for him.

Sorry to see Lucas out for the season - fractured pelvis. Wow, still only in high school and have had so many injuries. Is it time to bail or will he make a Kaetlyn-Osmond comeback?

Samuel Mindra ❤️❤️❤️ That is all.
Samuel Mindra's Pacific Coast Senior Men's FS to "Touch" by Daft Punk ft. Paul Williams (with the Vitamin String Quartet's cover in the beginning): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bXe2pwAUH4
He has been injured (only attempted 1 triple, 3S) and so that's why he held up a "See U Next Year Thank You!!!" sign in the kiss & cry afterwards.

ETA that he had the highest PCS (76.93) in the event. :)

ETA 2: The music has since been muted :( by USFS (his original music was supposedly in this video for 24 hours only).
