one rule question - if someone jumps a 2axel but it is deemed more than half a rotation short and only gets the base value of the singe axel - would it still be counted as an invalid element and get 0 points in the SP or does it get points if it is clear that a 2axel was attempted (not the case here, just general question)

No, it would still go into the protocol as a 2A<< which is a valid element.

While I often go on and on about the color of tights, Team Schermann got it right. She’s wearing the perfect light shade that doesn’t clash with her skin or her dress. That’s how it’s done. The illusion color, not so much, but there’s so little of it, it really doesn’t matter. Nice.
