Was Esmeralda frequently surprised during her lifetime? Or maybe she had too much bottox and that’s why she couldn’t make any other face than the surprised one?
There are "happy" dances and scenes in this ballet, other gypsy ladies dance to festive music pieces, the ballet is not "tragedy from start to end". I doubt Mishin had bottox...... :)

I wasn’t suggesting that Mishina should look serious. It doesn’t need to be a tragedy to change facial expression into something different, something perhaps relevant to the program. Mishina is doing that weird O face (like Wow, I am so surprised), but I really can’t see the relevance to the program. Or is she interpreting it as the cultural aspect - French Roma population who used to live near Notre-Dame were frequently surprised? Mishina doesn’t have this urges to make this face in their other program, so it must be possible to stop this.

I think her "O" face meant "excitement"...
I see. Then it should not be so hard to fix it. A few acting classes and she may learn the difference between excited and surprised. Luckily she doesn’t do this O face when she is excited in day-to-day life. That would be disastrous!

Eek, untypical throw errors for her!

I love all the transitions they do with those lines of theirs. :swoon: So gorgeous!

B/K still have never had a program that I completely love. How I hope they'll have that one day! :drama:
i just love that program really is my favourite pair long this season, I don’t think her head was quite in the game this weekend. Fantastic podium though i loved them all! Russians continue to rule the pairs

:) In order to "really fix it".... she would have to use a tambourine and hit it with her foot :D

I agree, there is nothing to fix. As Mishina matures, her facial expressions will change. Same applies to a lot of young female pairs skaters. With very few exceptions, they don't get there until early to mid-20s.
