This poor guy's last name is actually Incel! I hope it doesn't mean the same in Turkish as it does in English!

"Only started skating <5 years ago" is a very trendy lie among junior skaters lately. I've heard it said about 3-4 separate skaters and it was easily disproven in at least 2 cases. I automatically translate it as "only started skating seriously..." in my head at this point.

Ean again was my fave so far. Lots of issues with the landings of the jumps but that he will sort out in the future - but his general skating - jsut :swoon:

Great first minute, then downhill w falls (even in footwork), for Kai Kovar, to the American CLASSIC, Fix U (A la Knierim/Frazier)…
What he did well, tough, got him to first place so far!

Kai - what a mess. This guy is 17 and can`t do the simplest combination. Falls. Step outs. Ted/Mark saying he`s better today than in the SP. Not good enough. We have no competitive junior men. Sanchez inconsistent, Strommer with no 3A, 17 yo Kai skating like a Advanced Novice. Xie down nin the niddle of the pack. Maybe USFS should start holding on to their money until they have skaters worth sending around the world.

totally too harsh. Competing needs to trained as much as training the rest and you cannot really simulate this kind of high pressure situation.
And there is no gain in punishing skaters for high fan expectations. Rather one can look at training opporunities, camps abroad and so on to build a skating program.

Yes it has. Lots of falling on nothing or falling on exits from elements. Or just plain falling.

And poor Bondar just fell on his ending pose!

You’re being too harsh, IMO.

Last night’s SP in a NYC comp.:
Perhaps. An 80 in a local or minor competitions can`t be compared an international score. USFS is one of the biggest federations. It should be expecting more. (I come from the classical music world. At 17 and you`re stumbling through your Beethoven sonata no named Conservatory will take you.)

I liked his ending pose. Some nice sweeping movement, and he didn't fall as much as the others in this group!

I confess to having switched to Lombardia and having this group of men on mute. (Even the lower ranked dance teams are fun, hard to resist the 80s)

An 80 in junior men for the SP is brushing up near Malinin levels a couple years ago. It's a great score.
