Malinin making it look easy with just the tiniest error on the 3S and I’d want to see the quad toe combination on replay. It may be enough on the technical mark, but I don’t think the PCS should be close to Adam’s.

And good judging!

Not sure who said they were rethinking going to Worlds. I’d say go - amazing competition!

Ilia might have to seriously reconsider not including the 4A. He might be mad about the BV, but he still needs all the points he can get.

I still wish his PCS was down in the low 80s, because it's giving false representation of improvement when there wasn't that much between last year and this year.

Fair result. Ilia skated lights out and didn't lose focus. He still has work to do, and Adam was on fire today.

Ought to be interesting to see how Shoma is looking next week, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Worlds podium next March with today's medalists on it.

Why include the 4A if they aren't going to give him the points he deserves being the only skater who has ever landed it?

This program is definitely not his Salome moment. That step sequence is supposed to be a highlight, but Ilia just cannot express the melancholy in the Succession soundtrack.

It reminds of when Tat was talking about how she choreographed and helped Kovtun with his expression. He didn't have the life experience to express the emotions and story needed, so she told him "think about a car you really want". This is Ilia's problem right now.

So that he can potentially actually win? Is this a serious question?

He might think the points aren't fair, but the result could've been different today had he landed it. So those points are worth something.

If I were his team, I'd add it back given the GP series is half over and they should have a good idea of the level of competition. His TES is his strength. Of course, the long term goal is the Olympics and that's when he has to reach his peak performance level.

That was epic.

Ilia is four years younger than Adam, who did not skate like this at age 18. Absolutely the right result today. If Yuma had landed all his jumps, I’d have him in second and Ilia in third.

It just takes longer for the guys to become complete skaters. Even Yuzu changed over time.

Malinin doing “only” four quads isn’t going to hold him up over other skaters like Siao Him Fa who are also doing four (beautiful) quads. He needs to put in one more - whether it’s loop (which he has been working on), flip, or axel. It would’ve made the difference today.
