Although all the talk is going to be about whether Adam or Ilia should be in 1st after the SP, I'd just like to go on record as saying I'm in total agreement with Yuma getting the top components scores in this segment of the competition. He was FANTASTIC!

What's the Russian word for f*ck?

He earned more points on the GOE in the combo than that random fall cost him.
That combo was a thing of beauty - and much better than Adam's combo. I daresay whatever bonus Adam got for doing his combo in the 2nd half, Ilia made up the difference in the sheer quality of his combo.

Ilia also got lucky that the tech panel considered the fall as not a part of his step sequence, otherwise it would have cost him more (and the lead).

I'll agree it could easily have gone the other way. But I'll also say this: With all the "ADAM IS PERFECTION EMBODIED" going on, I had to wonder if y'all saw the same combination I did. :shuffle:
lol I don't think he's perfection but his skating is much smoother and faster and yeah the combo was a little muscled but it was still ok

I can't get on board with Malinin's components being in the same range as Kagiyama's, and Siao Him Fa's. Yes, he's improved but there's still a noticeable gap between Malinin and those guys. Clearly the French need to work on their home cooking with that score for Saio Him Fa. Maybe they need to bring back Didier? j/k ;)

Did you see the same fall that the rest of us did? Fall in the program beats muscled combination in terms of deductions.

It's a real competition when the top skaters are pretty much equal in overall skating with each having their own strength. Winning can come down to the luck of the day.

Lolololol... not all falls are equal and you've watched enough skating to know this. Ilia's fall barely interrupted the flow of his program and, more importantly, it was not on a required element. Yes, it did impact the GOE on his step sequence, which was a bit stumbly at the start as a result of the fall on the transition, but ultimately, it wasn't going to be as impactful to his overall score as a fall on a jump would have been.

Wasn't it considered to be on his step sequence?

Nope. The tech panel determined it was before the step sequence started.

ETA - I stand corrected. I just looked at the protocol, and it was counted as a fall on that element. But, the negative GOE was only 1.17, so it wasn't as bad as a fall on a jump.

Kinda funny that we're all fuming that Yuma was robbed, underscored and disrespected when he would have probably won the SP if he'd done a 4-3 combo with zero GOE. The judges love quads, we all know this.

I do agree that PCS is far too tied to TES and has been for far too long. And it would have been totally fair for Adam to take it on PCS. I'm just saying that, if you go by what they did technically, Ilia did enough to more than make up for the fall.
