Thoughts after catching up:

Only Ted could come up with "Aspects of Aspects."

What in blazes was Kiliakov wearing??

"Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon"? Is Marie-France trolling us? The Japanese are way too good for joke songs and push-ups on the ice. Do better, IAM.

From medaling to 10th must be a blow to the Koreans, but different field, different panel. I hope they're not discouraged.

Neset/Markelov are so, so special.

That was a great field and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them all. Even F/F, who never did much for me before, are starting to grow on me.

How long do we have to wait for GP assignments?

I hope their team prepared them for that possibility. This field was so much stronger than Bangkok that it shouldn't have been a surprise.
Both of the Wing/Lowe teams had a huge drop from their first events - Nguyen/Giang went from silver to 6th. At minimum, the teams can commiserate together on the flight back to Vancouver.

Neset/Markelov were great. That said, if they want to contend for gold in jgpf or jr world, they need to improve their levels in the rd. I can see Tkachenko/Kiliakov overtaking them in that segment by couple of points if their pcs improves.

Just watched:

The finish and the polish is what sets Neset & Markelov ahead from T&K for me. The latter still a bit sloppy and I already commented on her posture, which also bugged me for the years they skated for the U.S. so nothing new. I found T&K’s program a bit boring too. Certainly no where near the memorable version the Deuchanny’s did with Christopher Dean.

Really like Fradji and Fourneaux’s free dance here. Beautiful, interesting movements and lovely held out edges. Looking better than previous outing.

The Japanese team was all kitsch and sloppiness for me. They don’t have the skating skills yet to really look like ice dancers so they are going the high energy and big antics route like Fear and Gibson. Sometimes I’m feeling these days like Japan skaters are getting the “Russian” bonus treatment from judging panels Russia always seemed to get. But maybe that is just me.

Same. I thought N/M should have been farther ahead, though the lift deduction played a role in that.

But I wouldn't dare say that in front of Tkachenko, after that look she gave their scores.
